Narrated Ibn `Umar: While some people were at Quba (offering) morning prayer, a man came to them and said, Last night Qur'anic Verses have been revealed whereby the Prophet has been ordered to face the Ka`ba (at Mecca), so you too should face it. So they, keeping their postures, turned towards the Ka`ba. Formerly the people were facing Sham (Jerusalem) (Allah said):-- And from whence-so-ever you start forth (for prayers), turn your face in the direction of the Sacred Mosque of Mecca (Al-Masjid-ul-Haram), and whence-so-ever you are, turn your face towards it (when you pray) (2.150)
حضرت عبداللہ بن عمر ؓ سے روایت ہے کہ لوگ مسجد قباء میں صبح کی نماز پڑھ رہے تھے کہ ان کے پاس ایک صاحب آئے اور کہا: آج رات قرآن نازل ہوا ہے اور کعبے کی طرف منہ کر لینے کا حکم دیا گیا ہے، اس لیے آپ لوگ خانہ کعبہ کی طرف منہ کر لیں، چنانچہ وہ لوگ اسی حالت میں پھر گئے اور خانہ کعبہ کی طرف منہ کر لیا، پہلے ان کا منہ شام کی طرف تھا۔
Hazrat Abdullah bin Umar (Radi Allahu Anhu) se riwayat hai ke log Masjid-e-Quba mein subah ki namaz parh rahe the ke un ke paas ek sahab aaye aur kaha: Aaj raat Quran nazil hua hai aur Ka'be ki taraf munh kar lene ka hukm diya gaya hai, is liye aap log Khana-e-Ka'ba ki taraf munh kar lein, chunanche woh log isi halat mein phir gaye aur Khana-e-Ka'ba ki taraf munh kar liya, pehle un ka munh Shaam ki taraf tha.
حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ , حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ , حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ دِينَارٍ , قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا ، يَقُولُ : بَيْنَا النَّاسُ فِي الصُّبْحِ بِقُبَاءٍ إِذْ جَاءَهُمْ رَجُلٌ ، فَقَالَ : أُنْزِلَ اللَّيْلَةَ قُرْآنٌ ، فَأُمِرَ أَنْ يَسْتَقْبِلَ الْكَعْبَةَ فَاسْتَقْبِلُوهَا وَاسْتَدَارُوا كَهَيْئَتِهِمْ فَتَوَجَّهُوا إِلَى الْكَعْبَةِ ، وَكَانَ وَجْهُ النَّاس إِلَى الشَّأْمِ .
