Umar bin Abi Salama (رضي الله تعالى عنه) narrated ‘I was a boy under the care of Allah's Apostle (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) and my hand used to go around the dish while I was eating. So, Allah's Apostle (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) said to me, 'O boy, recite the Name of Allah and eat with your right hand, and eat of the dish what is nearer to you.’ Since then, I have continued with those instructions when eating.
سیدنا عمر بن ابی سلمہ ؓ سے روایت ہے، انہوں نے کہا کہ میں صغر سنی رسول اللہ ﷺ کے ہاں زیر پرورش تھا، کھاتے وقت برتن میں میرا ہاتھ چاروں طرف گھوم کرتا تھا۔ رسول اللہ ﷺ نے مجھے فرمایا: ”بیٹے! کھاتے وقت بسم اللہ پڑھو، دائیں ہاتھ سے کھاؤ اور اپنے آگے سے تناول کرو۔“ اس کے بعد میں ہمیشہ اسی ہدایت کے مطابق کھاتا رہا۔
Sayyidna Umar bin Abi Salama (radi Allahu anhu) se riwayat hai, unhon ne kaha ke mein sighar-sni Rasool Allah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) ke haan zer-e-parvarish tha, khate waqt bartan mein mera hath charon taraf ghoom karta tha. Rasool Allah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) ne mujhe farmaya: "Bete! Khate waqt Bismillah parho, dayen hath se khao aur apne aage se tanawul karo." Is ke baad mein hamesha isi hidayat ke mutabiq khata raha.
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، قَالَ الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ كَثِيرٍ : أَخْبَرَنِي ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ وَهْبَ بْنَ كَيْسَانَ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ عُمَرَ بْنَ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، يَقُولُ : كُنْتُ غُلَامًا فِي حَجْرِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَكَانَتْ يَدِي تَطِيشُ فِي الصَّحْفَةِ ، فَقَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : يَا غُلَامُ ، سَمِّ اللَّهَ وَكُلْ بِيَمِينِكَ وَكُلْ مِمَّا يَلِيكَ ، فَمَا زَالَتْ تِلْكَ طِعْمَتِي بَعْدُ .
