Chapter: To offer the eclipse prayer in the mosque

باب صَلاَةِ الْكُسُوفِ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ

Then one day Allah's Apostle rode (to leave for some place) but the sun eclipsed. He returned on the forenoon and passed through the rear of the dwellings (of his wives) and stood up and started offering the (eclipse) prayer and the people stood behind him. He stood for a long period and then performed a long bowing and then stood straight for a long period which was shorter than that of the first standing, then he performed a prolonged bowing which was shorter than the first bowing, then he raised his head and prostrated for a long time and then stood up (for the second rak`a) for a long while, but the standing was shorter than the standing of the first rak`a. Then he performed a prolonged bowing which was shorter than that of the first one. He then stood up for a long time but shorter than the first, then again performed a long bowing which was shorter than the first and then prostrated for a shorter while than that of the first prostration. Then he finished the prayer and delivered the sermon and) said what Allah wished; and ordered the people to seek refuge with Allah from the punishment of the grave.
پھر ایک دن رسول اللہ ﷺ صبح سویرے (کہیں جانے کے لیے) سواری پر سوار ہوئے جبکہ سورج کو گرہن لگ چکا تھا، چنانچہ چاشت کے وقت واپس تشریف لے آئے اور حجروں کے درمیان سے گزرتے ہوئے (مسجد میں گئے) اور کھڑے ہو کر نماز شروع کر دی۔ لوگ بھی آپ کے پیچھے کھڑے ہو گئے، آپ نے لمبا قیام کیا، پھر لمبا رکوع کیا، اس کے بعد سر اٹھا کر قیام کیا جو پہلے قیام سے کم تھا، پھر لمبا رکوع کیا جو پہلے رکوع سے کم تھا، اس کے بعد سر اٹھایا اور لمبا سجدہ کیا۔ پھر آپ کھڑے ہوئے اور لمبا قیام کیا جو پہلے قیام سے کم تھا، پھر لمبا رکوع کیا جو پہلے رکوع سے کم تھا، پھر لمبا قیام فرمایا جو پہلے قیام سے کم تھا، پھر لمبا رکوع کیا جو پہلے رکوع سے کم تھا، اس کے بعد سجدہ کیا جو پہلے سجدوں سے کم تھا۔ پھر نماز سے فارغ ہوئے تو رسول اللہ ﷺ نے وہ کچھ فرمایا جو اللہ نے چاہا، اس کے بعد آپ نے لوگوں کو حکم دیا کہ وہ عذاب قبر سے پناہ مانگیں۔
Phir ek din Rasool Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) subah sawere (kahin jane ke liye) sawari par sawar hue jabke suraj ko gahan lag chuka tha, chunanche chasht ke waqt wapas tashreef le aaye aur hujron ke darmiyan se guzarte hue (masjid mein gaye) aur khare ho kar namaz shuru kar di. Log bhi Aap ke peeche khare ho gaye, Aap ne lamba qiyam kiya, phir lamba ruku kiya, is ke baad sar utha kar qiyam kiya jo pehle qiyam se kam tha, phir lamba ruku kiya jo pehle ruku se kam tha, is ke baad sar uthaya aur lamba sajda kiya. Phir Aap khare hue aur lamba qiyam kiya jo pehle qiyam se kam tha, phir lamba ruku kiya jo pehle ruku se kam tha, phir lamba qiyam farmaya jo pehle qiyam se kam tha, phir lamba ruku kiya jo pehle ruku se kam tha, is ke baad sajda kiya jo pehle sajdon se kam tha. Phir namaz se farigh hue to Rasool Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne wo kuch farmaya jo Allah ne chaha, is ke baad Aap ne logon ko hukm diya ke wo azab-e-qabr se panah mangein.
ثُمَّ رَكِبَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ذَاتَ غَدَاةٍ مَرْكَبًا فَكَسَفَتِ الشَّمْسُ فَرَجَعَ ضُحًى ، فَمَرَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَيْنَ ظَهْرَانَيِ الْحُجَرِ ، ثُمَّ قَامَ فَصَلَّى وَقَامَ النَّاسُ وَرَاءَهُ فَقَامَ قِيَامًا طَوِيلًا ، ثُمَّ رَكَعَ رُكُوعًا طَوِيلًا ، ثُمَّ رَفَعَ فَقَامَ قِيَامًا طَوِيلًا وَهُوَ دُونَ الْقِيَامِ الْأَوَّلِ ، ثُمَّ رَكَعَ رُكُوعًا طَوِيلًا وَهُوَ دُونَ الرُّكُوعِ الْأَوَّلِ ، ثُمَّ رَفَعَ فَسَجَدَ سُجُودًا طَوِيلًا ، ثُمَّ قَامَ فَقَامَ قِيَامًا طَوِيلًا وَهُوَ دُونَ الْقِيَامِ الْأَوَّلِ ، ثُمَّ رَكَعَ رُكُوعًا طَوِيلًا وَهُوَ دُونَ الرُّكُوعِ الْأَوَّلِ ، ثُمَّ قَامَ قِيَامًا طَوِيلًا وَهُوَ دُونَ الْقِيَامِ الْأَوَّلِ ، ثُمَّ رَكَعَ رُكُوعًا طَوِيلًا وَهُوَ دُونَ الرُّكُوعِ الْأَوَّلِ ، ثُمَّ سَجَدَ وَهُوَ دُونَ السُّجُودِ الْأَوَّلِ ، ثُمَّ انْصَرَفَ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ أَنْ يَقُولَ ثُمَّ أَمَرَهُمْ أَنْ يَتَعَوَّذُوا مِنْ عَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ .
