Chapter: The statement of the Prophet ﷺ : "The deceased is punished because of the weeping (with wailing) of some of his relatives, if wailing was the custom of that dead person."

باب قَوْلِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم: «يُعَذَّبُ الْمَيِّتُ بِبَعْضِ بُكَاءِ أَهْلِهِ عَلَيْهِ» إِذَا كَانَ النَّوْحُ مِنْ سُنَّتِهِ
Sahih al-Bukhari 1287
Ibn `Abbas said, `Umar used to say so. Then he added narrating, I accompanied `Umar on a journey from Mecca till we reached Al-Baida. There he saw some travelers in the shade of a Samura (A kind of forest tree). He said (to me), Go and see who those travelers are. So I went and saw that one of them was Suhaib. I told this to `Umar who then asked me to call him. So I went back to Suhaib and said to him, Depart and follow the chief of the faithful believers. Later, when `Umar was stabbed, Suhaib came in weeping and saying, O my brother, O my friend! (on this `Umar said to him, O Suhaib! Are you weeping for me while the Prophet said, The dead person is punished by some of the weeping of his relatives?
حضرت ابن عباس ؓ نے فرمایا: حضرت عمر ؓ بھی ایسا ہی فرمایا کرتے تھے۔ پھر انہوں نے خبر دی کہ میں سیدنا عمر کے ہمراہ مکہ مکرمہ سے آرہا تھا۔ جب ہم مقام بیداء پہنچے تو اچانک ایک قافلہ کیکر کے سائے تلے تھا۔ انھوں نےفرمایا: جاؤ دیکھو یہ کون لوگ ہیں؟ میں نے دیکھا تو وہ حضرت صہیب ؓ تھے۔ میں نے انھیں خبر دی تو انھوں نے فرمایا: انھیں میرے پاس بلا لاؤ۔ میں حضرت صہیب ؓ کے پاس گیا اور ان سے کہا: چلیں اور امیر المومنین سے ملاقات کریں۔ جب حضرت عمر زخمی کیے گئے تو صہيب آئے اور روتے ہوئے یہ کہنے لگے: ہائے میرے بھائی! ہائے میرے ساتھی!حضرت عمر ؓ نے فرمایا: اے صہیب ؓ ! کیا مجھ پر رو رہے ہو، حالانکہ رسول اللہ ﷺ کاارشاد گرامی ہے: ’’میت کو اس کے گھر والوں کے اس پر رونے کی وجہ سے عذاب ہوتا ہے۔‘‘
Hazrat Ibn Abbas (Radhi Allahu Anhu) ne farmaya: Hazrat Umar (Radhi Allahu Anhu) bhi aisa hi farmaya karte the. Phir unhon ne khabar di ke main Sayyiduna Umar ke hamrah Makka Mukarrama se aa raha tha. Jab hum maqam-e-Baida pahunche to achanak ek qafila kikar ke saye tale tha. Unhon ne farmaya: Jao dekho yeh kon log hain? Main ne dekha to woh Hazrat Suhaib (Radhi Allahu Anhu) the. Main ne unhein khabar di to unhon ne farmaya: Unhein mere pas bula lao. Main Hazrat Suhaib (Radhi Allahu Anhu) ke pas gaya aur un se kaha: Chalein aur Ameer-ul-Momineen se mulaqat karein. Jab Hazrat Umar zakhmi kiye gaye to Suhaib aye aur rote hue yeh kehne lage: Haye mere bhai! Haye mere sathi! Hazrat Umar (Radhi Allahu Anhu) ne farmaya: Ae Suhaib (Radhi Allahu Anhu)! Kya mujh par ro rahe ho, halanke Rasool Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ka irshad-e-girami hai: ''Mayyat ko us ke ghar walon ke us par rone ki wajah se azab hota hai.''
فَقَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا : قَدْ كَانَ عُمَرُ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ , يَقُولُ بَعْضَ ذَلِكَ ، ثُمَّ حَدَّثَ , قَالَ : صَدَرْتُ مَعَ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ مِنْ مَكَّةَ حَتَّى إِذَا كُنَّا بِالْبَيْدَاءِ إِذَا هُوَ بِرَكْبٍ تَحْتَ ظِلِّ سَمُرَةٍ , فَقَالَ : اذْهَبْ فَانْظُرْ مَنْ هَؤُلَاءِ الرَّكْبُ ، قَالَ : فَنَظَرْتُ ، فَإِذَا صُهَيْبٌ , فَأَخْبَرْتُهُ , فَقَالَ : ادْعُهُ لِي فَرَجَعْتُ إِلَى صُهَيْبٍ , فَقُلْتُ : ارْتَحِلْ فَالْحَقْ أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ، فَلَمَّا أُصِيبَ عُمَرُ دَخَلَ صُهَيْبٌ يَبْكِي , يَقُولُ : وَا أَخَاهُ وَا صَاحِبَاهُ ، فَقَالَ عُمَرُ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ : يَا صُهَيْبُ أَتَبْكِي عَلَيَّ , وَقَدْ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : إِنَّ الْمَيِّتَ يُعَذَّبُ بِبَعْضِ بُكَاءِ أَهْلِهِ عَلَيْهِ .
