Chapter: The Statement of Allah Taa'la: "And to Dawud, We gave Sulaiman (for a son). How excellent (a) slave he was ever oft-returning in repentance (to us)" (38.30)

بَابُ قَوْلِ اللَّهِ تَعَالَى: {وَوَهَبْنَا لِدَاوُدَ سُلَيْمَانَ نِعْمَ الْعَبْدُ إِنَّهُ أَوَّابٌ}
Sahih al-Bukhari 3427
He also said, There were two women, each of whom had a child with her. A wolf came and took away the child of one of them, whereupon the other said, 'It has taken your child.' The first said, 'But it has taken your child.' So they both carried the case before David who judged that the living child be given to the elder lady. So both of them went to Solomon bin David and informed him (of the case). He said, 'Bring me a knife so as to cut the child into two pieces and distribute it between them.' The younger lady said, 'May Allah be merciful to you! Don't do that, for it is her (i.e. the other lady's) child.' So he gave the child to the younger lady.
پھر آپ ﷺ نے فرمایا: ’’دو عورتیں تھیں، جن کے ساتھ ان کے دو بچے بھی تھے۔ بھیڑیا آیا اور ان میں سے ایک کے بچے کو اٹھا کر لے گیا۔ اس کی سہیلی نے کہا: بھیڑیا تیرے بچے کو لے گیا ہے۔ دوسری بولی: نہیں، وہ بھیڑیا تیرابچہ لے گیا ہے۔ پھر دونوں حضرت داود ؑ کے پاس مقدمہ لے کر گئیں اور انھیں واقعہ سے مطلع کیا تو انھوں نے بڑی عورت کے حق میں فیصلہ د ے دیا۔ پھر وہ حضرت سلیمان ؑ کے پاس آئیں اور ان سے واقعہ عرض کیا تو انھوں نے کہا: میرے پاس چھری لاؤ تاکہ میں بچے کے دو ٹکڑے(کرکے ان کے درمیان تقسیم) کردوں۔ چھوٹی نے کہا: اللہ تعالیٰ آپ پر رحم کرے! آپ ایسا نہ کریں۔ یہ اسی کا بیٹا ہے (اس کو دے دیں)۔ تب حضرت سلیمان ؑ نے اس (بچے) کافیصلہ چھوٹی کے حق میں کردیا۔‘‘ حضرت ابوہریرۃ ؓنے کہا: اللہ کی قسم! میں نے اس دن چھری کا نام سکین سنا تھا۔ ہم اسے "مدیة" کہا کرتے تھے۔
Phir Aap (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) ne farmaya: "Do auratein thein, jin ke sath in ke do bache bhi the. Bhediya aya aur in mein se ek ke bache ko utha kar le gaya. Us ki saheli ne kaha: Bhediya tere bache ko le gaya hai. Doosri boli: Nahi, wo bhediya tera bacha le gaya hai. Phir donon Hazrat Dawood (Alaihis Salam) ke paas muqaddama le kar gaein aur inhein waqia se muttila kiya to unhon ne badi aurat ke haqq mein faisla de diya. Phir wo Hazrat Sulaiman (Alaihis Salam) ke paas aaein aur un se waqia arz kiya to unhon ne kaha: Mere paas chhuri lao taka mein bache ke do tukre (karke in ke darmiyan taqseem) kardoon. Chhoti ne kaha: Allah Ta'ala Aap par raham kare! Aap aisa na karein. Ye isi ka beta hai (is ko de dein). Tab Hazrat Sulaiman (Alaihis Salam) ne us (bache) ka faisla chhoti ke haqq mein kardiya." Hazrat Abu Hurairah (Radi Allahu Anhu) ne kaha: Allah ki qasam! Mein ne us din chhuri ka naam 'Sikkeen' suna tha. Hum ise 'Mudya' kaha karte the.
وَقَالَ : كَانَتِ امْرَأَتَانِ مَعَهُمَا ابْنَاهُمَا جَاءَ الذِّئْبُ فَذَهَبَ بِابْنِ إِحْدَاهُمَا ، فَقَالَتْ : صَاحِبَتُهَا إِنَّمَا ذَهَبَ بِابْنِكِ ، وَقَالَتْ : الْأُخْرَى إِنَّمَا ذَهَبَ بِابْنِكِ فَتَحَاكَمَتَا إِلَى دَاوُدَ فَقَضَى بِهِ لِلْكُبْرَى فَخَرَجَتَا عَلَى سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ دَاوُدَ فَأَخْبَرَتَاهُ ، فَقَالَ : ائْتُونِي بِالسِّكِّينِ أَشُقُّهُ بَيْنَهُمَا ، فَقَالَتْ : الصُّغْرَى لَا تَفْعَلْ يَرْحَمُكَ اللَّهُ هُوَ ابْنُهَا فَقَضَى بِهِ لِلصُّغْرَى ، قَالَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ : وَاللَّهِ إِنْ سَمِعْتُ بِالسِّكِّينِ إِلَّا يَوْمَئِذٍ وَمَا كُنَّا نَقُولُ إِلَّا الْمُدْيَةُ .
