Sahih al-Bukhari 3850
Sufyan narrated that 'Ubaidullah said, ‘I heard Ibn Abbas (رضي الله تعالى عنه) saying, ‘following are some traits of the people of the pre-Islamic period of ignorance (i) to defame the ancestry of other families, (ii) and to wail over the dead.’ Ubaidullah forgot the third trait. Sufyan said, ‘they say it (the third trait) was to believe that rain was caused by the influence of stars (if a special star appears it will rain).
حضرت ابن عباس ؓ سے روایت ہے، انہوں نے فرمایا کہ جاہلیت کی عادات میں سے نسب میں طعن کرنا اورنوحہ کرنا ہے۔ راوی کہتا ہے کہ وہ تیسری خصلت بھول گئے ہیں۔ سفیان نے کہا: لوگ کہتے ہیں کہ تیسری خصلت ستاروں کے ذریعے سے بارش طلب کرنا ہے۔
Hazrat Ibn Abbas (Radi Allahu Anhu) se riwayat hai, unhon ne farmaya ke Jahiliyyat ki aadaat mein se nasab mein ta'n karna aur nouha karna hai. Rawi kehta hai ke woh teesri khaslat bhool gaye hain. Sufyan ne kaha: Log kehte hain ke teesri khaslat sitaron ke zariye se barish talab karna hai.
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ ، سَمِعَ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا ، قَالَ : خِلَالٌ مِنْ خِلَالِ الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ : الطَّعْنُ فِي الْأَنْسَابِ , وَالنِّيَاحَةُ , وَنَسِيَ الثَّالِثَةَ ، قَالَ سُفْيَانُ : وَيَقُولُونَ إِنَّهَا الِاسْتِسْقَاءُ بِالْأَنْوَاءِ .
