Chapter on residence with a previously married woman or a virgin when marrying them

باب الإقامة عند الثيب والبكر إذا بنى بهما

Sunan al-Darimi 2246

Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "For a virgin, the period of Iddah (waiting period after divorce or death of husband) is seven days, and for a non-virgin it is three days."

سیدنا انس بن مالک رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا: رسول اللہ ﷺ نے فرمایا: ”کنواری کے لئے سات دن اور ثیبہ کے لئے تین دن ہیں۔“

Sayyidina Anas bin Malik (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ne kaha: Rasul Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: "Kunwari ke liye saat din aur saibah ke liye teen din hain."

أَخْبَرَنَا يَعْلَى، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاق، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ، عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: "لِلْبِكْرِ سَبْعٌ، وَلِلثَّيِّبِ ثَلَاثٌ".

Sunan al-Darimi 2247

It is narrated on the authority of Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) married her, he stayed with her for three days and said, “Your status before me is not diminished. If you wish, I can stay with you for seven days, and then I will stay with each of my wives for seven days.” (And then after that it will be your turn, but she said: Stay with each one for a day and then come to me).

سیدہ ام سلمہ رضی اللہ عنہا سے مروی ہے کہ جب رسول اللہ ﷺ نے ان سے نکاح کیا تو تین دن ان کے پاس رہے اور فرمایا: ”تمہارا درجہ میرے نزدیک کم نہیں ہے، اگر تم چاہو تو میں تمہارے پاس سات دن تک رہ سکتا ہوں، پھر ہر بیوی کے ساتھ ایسے ہی سات سات دن تک رہوں گا۔“ (اور پھر سب کے بعد تمہاری باری آئے گی، لیکن انہوں نے کہا: سب کے پاس باری باری ایک ایک دن رہ کر میرے پاس آیئے)۔

Syeda Umme Salma raziallahu anha se marvi hai ki jab Rasool Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne un se nikah kiya to teen din un ke pass rahe aur farmaya: ”Tumhara darja mere nazdeek kam nahi hai, agar tum chaho to main tumhare pass saat din tak reh sakta hun, phir har biwi ke sath aise hi saat saat din tak rahunga.“ (Aur phir sab ke baad tumhari bari aayegi, lekin unhon ne kaha: Sab ke pass bari bari ek ek din reh kar mere pass aaiye).

أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ هِشَامٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ: أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَمَّا تَزَوَّجَ أُمَّ سَلَمَةَ، أَقَامَ عِنْدَهَا ثَلَاثًا، وَقَالَ: "إِنَّهُ لَيْسَ بِكِ عَلَى أَهْلِكِ هَوَانٌ، إِنْ شِئْتِ، سَبَّعْتُ لَكِ، وَإِنْ سَبَّعْتُ لَكِ، سَبَّعْتُ لِسَائِرِ نِسَائِي".
