Abdul Malik bin Maisarah said: I heard from Kardus, who was a storyteller, that a man from the people of Badr informed me that he heard from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "If I were to sit in a gathering like this, it would be better for me to free four slaves." The narrator said: I asked, which gathering was he referring to? He said: A gathering in which storytelling was taking place. Imam Darimi (may Allah have mercy on him) said: The aforementioned companion from the people of Badr was Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him).

عبدالملک بن میسرہ نے کہا: میں نے کردوس سے سنا جو قصہ گو تھا کہ اہلِ بدر کے ایک شخص نے مجھے خبر دی کہ انہوں نے رسول اللہ ﷺ سے سنا، آپ ﷺ فرماتے تھے: ”اگر میں اس جیسی مجلس میں بیٹھوں تو میرے نزدیک زیادہ اچھا ہے کہ چار غلام آزاد کر دوں“، راوی نے کہا: میں نے پوچھا کون سی مجلس اس سے مراد تھی؟ کہا: اس مجلس میں اس وقت قصہ خوانی ہو رہی تھی۔ امام دارمی رحمہ اللہ نے کہا: اہلِ بدر کے مذکورہ صحابی سیدنا علی رضی اللہ عنہ ہیں۔
Abdulmalik bin Maysra ne kaha: mein ne Kardos se suna jo qissa go tha ke ahle Badr ke aik shakhs ne mujhe khabar di ke unhon ne Rasul Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) se suna, Aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) farmate thy: "Agar mein is jaisi majlis mein baithun to mere nazdeek zyada acha hai ke chaar ghulam azad kar dun", ravi ne kaha: mein ne poocha kaun si majlis is se muraad thi? kaha: is majlis mein is waqt qissa khwani ho rahi thi. Imam Darmi rehmatullah alaih ne kaha: ahle Badr ke mazkora sahabi Sayyidna Ali razi Allah anhu hain.
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَلَاءِ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي بُكَيْرٍ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ مَيْسَرَةَ، قالَ: سَمِعْتُ كُرْدُوسًا وَكَانَ قَاصًّا، يَقُولُ: أَخْبَرَنِي رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ بَدْرٍ , أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، يَقُولُ: "لَأَنْ أَقْعُدَ فِي مِثْلِ هَذَا الْمَجْلِسِ أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ مِنْ أَنْ أُعْتِقَ أَرْبَعَ رِقَابٍ". قَالَ: قُلْتُ: أَنَا: أَيَّ مَجْلِسٍ يَعْنِي؟، قَالَ: كَانَ حِينَئِذٍ يَقُصُّ. قَالَ أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ: الرَّجُلُ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ بَدْرٍ هُوَ: عَلِيٌّ.
