Chapter on testifying to the sighting of the crescent moon for Ramadan

باب الشهادة على رؤية هلال رمضان

Sunan al-Darimi 1729

Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "The people had seen the crescent (but they did not testify to it). I informed the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) that I had seen the crescent. So, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) observed fast and commanded the people to fast."

سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما نے کہا: لوگوں نے چاند دیکھا (لیکن دکھلائی نہ دیا)، میں نے رسول اللہ ﷺ سے عرض کیا کہ میں نے چاند دیکھا ہے، چنانچہ آپ ﷺ نے روزہ رکھ لیا اور لوگوں کو روزہ رکھنے کا حکم دیا۔

Sayyidna Ibn Umar ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a ne kaha: Logon ne chand dekha (laikin dikhlai nahi diya), main ne Rasul Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) se arz kiya ke main ne chand dekha hai, chunancha Aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne roza rakh liya aur logon ko roza rakhne ka hukum diya.

حَدَّثَنَا مَرْوَانُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ وَهْبٍ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَالِمٍ، عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ نَافِعٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللهِ عَنْهُ، قَالَ: تَرَاءَى النَّاسُ الْهِلَالَ، فَأَخْبَرْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنِّي رَأَيْتُهُ،"فَصَامَ وَأَمَرَ النَّاسَ بِالصِّيَامِ".

Sunan al-Darimi 1730

Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: A Bedouin came to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and said: "I have sighted the moon." The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Do you testify that there is no god but Allah and that I am the Messenger of Allah?" He said: "Yes." The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "O Bilal! Announce to the people that they must fast tomorrow."


Grade: Da'if

سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما نے کہا: ایک اعرابی نبی کریم ﷺ کے پاس آیا اور کہا کہ: میں نے چاند دیکھا ہے، آپ ﷺ نے فرمایا: ”کیا تم اس بات کی گواہی دیتے ہو کہ اللہ کے سوا کوئی معبود نہیں اور میں اللہ کا رسول ہوں؟“ اس نے کہا: جی ہاں، آپ ﷺ نے فرمایا: ”اے بلال! لوگوں میں منادی کر دو کہ وہ کل روزہ رکھیں۔“

Sayyidna Ibn Abbas ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a ne kaha: Ek Airabi Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ke paas aaya aur kaha keh: Mein ne chaand dekha hai, Aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: "Kya tum is baat ki gawahi dete ho keh Allah ke siwa koi mabood nahi aur mein Allah ka rasool hun?" Usne kaha: Ji haan, Aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: "Aye Bilal! Logon mein munadi kar do keh woh kal roza rakhen."

حَدَّثَنِي عِصْمَةُ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ، حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنٌ الْجُعْفِيُّ، عَنْ زَائِدَةَ، عَنْ سِمَاكٍ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللهِ عَنْهُمَا، قَالَ: جَاءَ أَعْرَابِيٌّ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، وَقَالَ: إِنِّي رَأَيْتُ الْهِلَالَ. فَقَالَ:"أَتَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ، وَأَنِّي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ؟"قَالَ: نَعَمْ. قَالَ:"يَا بِلَالُ، نَادِ فِي النَّاسِ، فَلْيَصُومُوا غَدًا".
