Chapter on fasting six days in the month of Shawwal

باب في صيام الستة من شوال

Sunan al-Darimi 1792

It was narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Ayyub al-Ansari, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: “Whoever fasts Ramadan, then follows it with six days of Shawwal, it will be as if he fasted the entire year."

سیدنا ابوایوب انصاری رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ نے فرمایا: ”جو شخص رمضان کے روزے رکھے اس کے بعد شوال کے چھ روزے رکھ لے تو یہ پورے سال روزہ رکھنے کے برابر ہے۔“

Sayyidina Abu Ayyub Ansari (رضي الله تعالى عنه) se marvi hai ki Rasul Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: ”Jo shakhs Ramadan ke roze rakhe uske baad Shawwal ke chhe roze rakh le to ye pure saal roze rakhne ke barabar hai.“

حَدَّثَنَا نُعَيْمُ بْنُ حَمَّادٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا صَفْوَانُ، وسَعْدُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ، عَنْ أَبِي أَيُّوبَ، عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَ: "مَنْ صَامَ رَمَضَانَ ثُمَّ أَتْبَعَهُ سِتَّةً مِنْ شَوَّالٍ، فَذَلِكَ صِيَامُ الدَّهْرِ".

Sunan al-Darimi 1793

Narrated Thawban, may Allah be pleased with him: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "(The fasts of one year are as follows) the fasts of one month are like the fasts of ten months, and then the fasts of six days after that are like the fasts of two months, thus completing twelve months and a full year." Meaning, one month is Ramadan and the six days after it are in Shawwal.


Grade: Sahih

سیدنا ثوبان رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ نے فرمایا: ”(ایک سال کے روزے اس طرح ہوئے) کہ ایک مہینے کے روزے دس مہینے کے ہوئے اور ان کے بعد چھ دن کے روزے دو مہینے کے روزے ہوئے، اس طرح بارہ مہینے ہو گئے اور ایک سال پورا ہو گیا۔“ یعنی ایک مہینہ رمضان اور اس کے بعد چھ روزے شوال کے۔

Sayyidna Sauban (رضي الله تعالى عنه) se marvi hai ki Rasul Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: "(aik saal ke roze is tarah huye) ki aik mahine ke roze dus mahine ke huye aur un ke baad chhe din ke roze do mahine ke roze huye, is tarah barah mahine ho gaye aur aik saal poora ho gaya." Yaani aik mahina Ramadan aur us ke baad chhe roze Shawwal ke.

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ حَسَّانَ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ حَمْزَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ الْحَارِثِ الذِّمَارِيُّ، عَنْ أَبِي أَسْمَاءَ الرَّحَبِيِّ، عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَ: "صِيَامُ شَهْرٍ بِعَشَرَةِ أَشْهُرٍ، وَسِتَّةِ أَيَّامٍ بَعْدَهُنَّ بِشَهْرَيْنِ، فَذَلِكَ تَمَامُ سَنَةٍ"، يَعْنِي شَهْرَ رَمَضَانَ، وَسِتَّةَ أَيَّامٍ بَعْدَهُ.
