It is narrated on the authority of Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that Sayyidah Duba'ah bint Az-Zubair bin Abdul-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with them both) came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and said: "O Messenger of Allah! I intend to perform Hajj, so how should I (make the intention)?" He said: "Say: «لَبَّيْكَ اَللّٰهُمَّ لَبَّيْكَ وَمَحِلِّىْ حَيْثُ تَحْبِسُنِيْ.» Meaning: Here I am at Your service, O Allah, here I am. And the place where I end my Ihram is the place where You prevent me (from continuing). In this way, the condition you have stipulated is upon your Lord."

سیدنا عبداللہ بن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ سیدہ ضباعہ بنت الزبیر بن عبدالمطلب رضی اللہ عنہما رسول اللہ ﷺ کے پاس آئیں اور عرض کیا: اے اللہ کے رسول! میرا حج کرنے کا ارادہ ہے تو میں کیسے (نیت) کہوں؟ آپ نے فرمایا: ”ایسے کہو: «لَبَّيْكَ اَللّٰهُمَّ لَبَّيْكَ وَمَحِلِّىْ حَيْثُ تَحْبِسُنِيْ.» یعنی میں حاضر ہوں اے الله میں حاضر ہوں اور میری جگہ احرام کھولنے کی وہی ہے جہاں تو مجھے روک دے، اس طرح تو نے جو شرط لگائی وہ تیرے پروردگار پر ہے۔“
Sydna Abdullah bin Abbas ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se marvi hai ki Syeda Zubaida bint uz Zubair bin Abdul Muttalib ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a Rasul Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ke paas aayin aur arz kiya: Aye Allah ke Rasul! Mera Hajj karne ka irada hai to main kaise (niyat) kahun? Aap ne farmaya: ”Aise kaho: «Labbaik Allahumma Labbaik Wa Mahilli Haithu Tahbisuni.» Yaani main hazir hun aye Allah main hazir hun aur meri jagah ehram kholne ki wohi hai jahan tu mujhe rok de, is tarah tu ne jo shart lagai wo tere parvardigaar par hai“.
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو النُّعْمَانِ، حَدَّثَنَا ثَابِتُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ، حَدَّثَنَا هِلَالُ بْنُ خَبَّابٍ، قَالَ: فَحَدَّثْتُ عِكْرِمَةَ فَحَدَّثَنِي، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ: أَنَّ ضُبَاعَةَ بِنْتَ الزُّبَيْرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ، أَتَتِ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَتْ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، إِنِّي أُرِيدُ أَنْ أَحُجَّ، فَكَيْفَ أَقُولُ؟ قَالَ:"قُولِي: لَبَّيْكَ اللَّهُمَّ لَبَّيْكَ، وَمَحِلِّي حَيْثُ تَحْبِسُنِي، فَإِنَّ لَكِ عَلَى رَبِّكِ مَا اسْتَثْنَيْتِ".
