Narrated by Samurah ibn Jundub: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Every child is in pledge for his ‘Aqeeqah, which is sacrificed for him on the seventh day, his head is shaved, and blood is put on (his head).”
The narrator of the hadith, Imam Qatadah (may Allah have mercy on him), described the method of applying blood as follows: When the animal is slaughtered, a piece of its hair (wool) is taken and placed on the veins of the animal, then that piece is placed on the child's umbilical cord, so that blood flows from it onto the child's head like a stream, then his head is washed, and then the child's hair is shaved.
‘Uffan said: Aban also narrated this hadith to us, but he said “Yusamma” instead of “Dami,” meaning that his name should be given instead of being smeared with blood. (This means that the narrator made a mistake or forgot this word).
Imam Darimi (may Allah have mercy on him) said: I do not consider it obligatory to smear the head with blood.

سیدنا سمرہ بن جندب رضی اللہ عنہ نے روایت کیا: نبی کریم ﷺ نے فرمایا: ”ہر لڑکا اپنے عقیقے میں گروی ہے، اس کی طرف سے ساتویں دن قربانی کی جائے، اس کے بال مونڈے جائیں اور خون (اس کے سر پر) لگایا جائے۔“ راوی حدیث امام قتادہ رحمہ اللہ خون لگانے کا طریقہ اس طرح بتاتے تھے کہ جب جانور ذبح کیا جائے تو اس کے بالوں (اون) میں سے ایک ٹکڑا لیا جائے اور جانور کی رگوں پر رکھ دیا جائے، پھر وہ ٹکڑا نومولود بچے کی چندیا پر رکھ دیا جائے یہاں تک کہ دھاگوں کی طرح اس بچے کے سر سے خون بہنے لگے، پھر اس کا سر دھویا جائے، اس کے بعد بچے کے بال مونڈے جائیں۔ عفان نے کہا: ابان نے بھی ہم سے یہ حدیث بیان کی لیکن «دمي» کے بجائے «يسمي» کہا یعنی خون سے لتھیڑنے کے بجائے یہ کہا کہ اس کا نام رکھا جائے۔ (مطلب یہ کہ راوی سے اس کلمے میں سہو یا وہم ہو گیا ہے)۔ امام دارمی رحمہ اللہ نے فرمایا: خون سے سر کو لتھیڑنا میں واجب نہیں سمجھتا۔
Sayyiduna Samrah bin Jundub Raziallahu Anhu ne riwayat ki: Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: “Har ladka apne aqiqe mein girovi hai, uski taraf se saatven din qurbani ki jaye, uske baal mundaye jayen aur khoon (uske sar par) lagaya jaye.” Rawi hadees Imam Qatadah rehmatullah khoon lagane ka tareeqa is tarah batate the ke jab janwar zibah kiya jaye to uske baalon (oon) mein se ek tukda liya jaye aur janwar ki ragon par rakh diya jaye, phir wo tukda nau molood bache ki chandiya par rakh diya jaye yahan tak ke dhagon ki tarah us bache ke sar se khoon behne lage, phir us ka sar dhoya jaye, uske baad bache ke baal mundaye jayen. Uffan ne kaha: Aban ne bhi hum se ye hadees bayaan ki lekin «dumi» ke bajaye «yusammi» kaha yani khoon se lithayrne ke bajaye ye kaha ke uska naam rakha jaye. (matlab ye ke rawi se is kalme mein saho ya waham ho gaya hai). Imam Darmi rehmatullah ne farmaya: Khoon se sar ko lithayrna mein wajib nahi samjhta.
