Sunan al-Darimi 363
Imam Zuhri, may Allah have mercy on him, said: “The superiority of a scholar over a jurist is a hundred degrees, and between each two degrees is the distance of five hundred years of a swift, trained racehorse." (A trained horse is a horse that is prepared for racing).

امام زہری رحمہ اللہ نے فرمایا: عالم کی مجتہد پر فضیلت سو درجہ زیادہ ہے، اور ہر دو درجوں کے درمیان تیز دوڑنے والے مضمّر گھوڑوں کی پانچ سو سال کی مسافت ہے۔ (مضمّر وہ گھوڑا جس کو (ریسں) دوڑ کے لئے تیار کیا جائے)۔
Imam Zuhri rehmatullah alaih ne farmaya: Aalim ki mujtahid par fazilat sau darja ziada hai, aur har do darjon ke darmiyan tez dorne wale muzamar ghoron ki panch sau saal ki musafat hai. (Muzamar woh ghora jis ko (reason) daud ke liye taiyar kiya jaye).
(حديث مقطوع) أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عِمْرَانَ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَمَانٍ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَجْلَانَ، عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ، قَالَ: "فَضْلُ الْعَالِمِ عَلَى الْمُجْتَهِدِ مِئَةُ دَرَجَةٍ، مَا بَيْنَ الدَّرَجَتَيْنِ خَمْسُ مِئَةِ سَنَةٍ، حُضْرِ الْفَرَسِ الْمُضَمَّرِ السَّرِيعِ".
