Chapter: One who bathed to cleanse himself from sexual impurity and there remained a spot on his body that was not touched by water: what should he do?

باب مَنِ اغْتَسَلَ مِنَ الْجَنَابَةِ فَبَقِيَ مِنْ جَسَدِهِ لُمْعَةً لَمْ يُصِبْهَا الْمَاءُ كَيْفَ يَصْنَعُ

Sunan Ibn Majah 663

It was narrated from Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله تعالى عنه) that the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) bathed to cleanse himself from sexual impurity, then he saw a spot that the water did not reach.' Then he motioned with the hair hanging over his shoulders and squeezed (the water from it) over that spot.' In his narration, Ishaq said : "So he wrung his hair over it.'

عبداللہ بن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے روایت ہے کہ نبی اکرم ﷺ نے غسل جنابت کیا تو معمولی سی جگہ خشکی دیکھی، تو اپنے بالوں سے اس مقام کو تر کر دیا۔ اسحاق بن منصور نے اپنی حدیث میں کہا کہ آپ ﷺ نے اس پر اپنے بالوں کو نچوڑ کر تر کر دیا۔

Abdul-Allah bin Abbas ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se riwayat hai ke Nabi-e-Akram (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne ghusl-e-janabat kiya to mamuli si jagah khushki dekhi, to apne balon se is maqam ko tar kar diya. Ishaq bin Mansoor ne apni hadees mein kaha ke aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne is par apne balon ko nchoo kar tar kar diya.

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ وَإِسْحَاق بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَا:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنْبَأَنَا مُسْتَلِمُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْأَبِي عَلِيٍّ الرَّحَبِيِّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ اغْتَسَلَ مِنْ جَنَابَةٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَرَأَى لُمْعَةً لَمْ يُصِبْهَا الْمَاءُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ بِجُمَّتِهِ فَبَلَّهَا عَلَيْهَا ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ إِسْحَاق فِي حَدِيثِهِ:‏‏‏‏ فَعَصَرَ شَعْرَهُ عَلَيْهَا .

Sunan Ibn Majah 664

It was narrated that 'Ali (رضي الله تعالى عنه) said, a man came to the Prophet ( صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) and said : 'I bathed to cleanse myself from sexual impurity, and I prayed Fajr, then I noticed a spot the size of a fingernail that the water did not reach.' The Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) said: 'If you had wiped it that would have been sufficient for you.'

علی رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ ایک آدمی نبی اکرم ﷺ کے پاس آیا، اور اس نے عرض کیا کہ میں نے غسل جنابت کیا، اور فجر کی نماز پڑھی پھر جب صبح ہوئی تو میں نے دیکھا کہ بدن کے ایک حصہ میں ناخن کے برابر پانی نہیں پہنچا ہے تو رسول اللہ ﷺ نے فرمایا: اگر تم اس پر اپنا گیلا ہاتھ پھیر دیتے تو کافی ہوتا ۔

Ali (رضي الله تعالى عنه) kehte hain ke aik aadmi Nabi Akram (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ke pass aaya, aur us ne arz kiya ke mein ne ghusl junabat kiya, aur fajr ki namaz parhi phir jab subah hui to mein ne dekha ke badan ke ek hisse mein nakhoon ke barabar pani nahi pahuncha hai to Rasoolullah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: agar tum is par apna gila hath phir dete to kafi hota.

حَدَّثَنَا سُوَيْدُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْأَحْوَصِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِيهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَلِيٍّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ إِنِّي اغْتَسَلْتُ مِنَ الْجَنَابَةِ وَصَلَّيْتُ الْفَجْرَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ أَصْبَحْتُ فَرَأَيْتُ قَدْرَ مَوْضِعِ الظُّفْرِ لَمْ يُصِبْهُ الْمَاءُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ لَوْ كُنْتَ مَسَحْتَ عَلَيْهِ بِيَدِكَ أَجْزَأَكَ .
