It was narrated from Anas bin Malik (رضي الله تعالى عنه) that the Apostle of Allah ( صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) used to pray 'Asr when the sun was still hot and high, and if a person were to go to the suburbs (of Madinah) he would be able to reach it while the sun was still hot and high.

انس بن مالک رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ عصر اس وقت پڑھا کرتے تھے جب سورج اونچا اور زندہ ہوتا تھا، چنانچہ ( نماز پڑھ کر ) کوئی شخص عوالی ۱؎ میں جاتا تو سورج بلند ہی ہوتا تھا۔
Anas bin Malik (رضي الله تعالى عنه) kehte hain ke Rasool Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) Asr is waqt padha karte the jab Sooraj ooncha aur zinda hota tha, chananche ( namaz padh kar ) koi shakhs Awali mein jata to Sooraj buland hi hota tha.
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رُمْحٍ، أَنْبَأَنَا اللَّيْثُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، أَنَّهُ أَخْبَرَهُ: أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَان يُصَلِّي الْعَصْرَ وَالشَّمْسُ مُرْتَفِعَةٌ حَيَّةٌ، فَيَذْهَبُ الذَّاهِبُ إِلَى الْعَوَالِي، وَالشَّمْسُ مُرْتَفِعَةٌ .
