Muslim bin Haisam narrated from Ash'ath bin Qais (رضي الله تعالى عنه) who said, ‘I came to the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) with a delegation from Kindah, and they thought that I was the best of them. I said, ‘O Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) are you not from among us? The Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) said, we are the tribe of Banu Nadr bin Kinanah, and we do not attribute ourselves to our mother and we do not deny our forefathers.’ Haisam added, Ash'ath bin Qais (رضي الله تعالى عنه) used to say, 'if any man is brought to me who suggests that a man from Quraish does not belong to Nadr bin Kinanah, I would carry out the legal punishment (for slander) on him.'

اشعث بن قیس رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ میں قبیلہ کندہ کے وفد میں رسول اللہ ﷺ کے پاس آیا، وہ لوگ مجھے سب سے بہتر سمجھتے تھے، میں نے عرض کیا: اللہ کے رسول! کیا آپ لوگ ہم میں سے نہیں ہیں؟ آپ ﷺ نے فرمایا: ہم نضر بن کنانہ کی اولاد ہیں، نہ ہم اپنی ماں پر تہمت لگاتے ہیں، اور نہ اپنے والد سے علیحدہ ہوتے ہیں ۔ راوی کہتے ہیں: اشعث بن قیس رضی اللہ عنہ کہا کرتے تھے کہ میرے پاس اگر کوئی ایسا شخص آئے جو کسی قریشی کے نضر بن کنانہ کی اولاد میں سے ہونے کا انکار کرے، تو میں اسے حد قذف لگاؤں گا۔
Ashath bin Qais (رضي الله تعالى عنه) kehte hain ke main qabil'a Kanda ke wafd mein rasool Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ke pas aaya, woh log mujhe sab se behtar samjhte the, main ne arz kiya: Allah ke rasool! kya aap log hum mein se nahin hain? aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: hum Nadhr bin Kinana ki aulad hain, nah hum apni maa par tehmat lagate hain, aur nah apne walid se alihda hote hain. Ravi kehte hain: Ashath bin Qais (رضي الله تعالى عنه) kaha karte the ke mere pas agar koi aisa shakhs aaye jo kisi Quraishi ke Nadhr bin Kinana ki aulad mein se hone ka inkar kare, to main usse had qazf lagaoonga.
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى، حَدَّثَنَاسُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا هَارُونُ بْنُ حَيَّانَ، أَنْبَأَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ الْمُغِيرَةِ، قَالَا: حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْعَقِيلِ بْنِ طَلْحَةَ السُّلَمِيِّ، عَنْ مُسْلِمِ بْنِ هَيْضَمٍ، عَنِ الْأَشْعَثِ بْنِ قَيْسٍ، قَالَ: أَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي وَفْدِ كِنْدَةَ وَلَا يَرَوْنِي إِلَّا أَفْضَلَهُمْ، فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، أَلَسْتُمْ مِنَّا؟ فَقَالَ: نَحْنُ بَنُو النَّضْرِ بْنِ كِنَانَةَ لَا نَقْفُو أُمَّنَا وَلَا نَنْتَفِي مِنْ أَبِينَا ، قَالَ: فَكَانَ الْأَشْعَثُ بْنُ قَيْسٍ يَقُولُ: لَا أُوتِي بِرَجُلٍ نَفَى رَجُلًا مِنْ قُرَيْشٍ مِنَ النَّضْرِ بْنِ كِنَانَةَ إِلَّا جَلَدْتُهُ الْحَدَّ.
