It was narrated that Abu Mas’ud Al-Ansari (رضي الله تعالى عنه) said: “The Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) used to gently pat our shoulders (to make sure the row was straight) at the time of prayer, saying: ‘Keep (the rows) straight, do not differ from one another lest your hearts should suffer from discord. Let those who are forbearing and wise stand closest to me, then those who are next to them, then those who are next to them.’”

ابومسعود انصاری رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ نماز میں ہمارے کندھوں پہ ہاتھ پھیرتے اور فرماتے: الگ الگ نہ رہو، ورنہ تمہارے دل الگ الگ ہو جائیں گے، اور تم میں جو عقل اور شعور والے ہیں وہ میرے نزدیک کھڑے ہوں، پھر وہ لوگ جو عقل و شعور میں ان سے قریب ہوں، پھر وہ جو ان سے قریب ہوں ۔
Abu Masood Ansaari (رضي الله تعالى عنه) kehte hain ke Rasool Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) namaz mein hamare kandhon pe hath phirte aur farmate: alg alg nah raho, warna tumhare dil alg alg ho jayen ge, aur tum mein jo aql aur shoor wale hain woh mere nazdeek khare hon, phir woh log jo aql o shoor mein un se qareeb hon, phir woh jo un se qareeb hon
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الصَّبَّاحِ، أَنْبَأَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنْ الْأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ عُمَارَةَ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ، عَنْ أَبِي مَعْمَر، عَنْ أَبِي مَسْعُودٍ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ، قَالَ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَمْسَحُ مَنَاكِبَنَا فِي الصَّلَاةِ وَيَقُولُ: لَا تَخْتَلِفُوا فَتَخْتَلِفَ قُلُوبُكُمْ، لِيَلِيَنِّي مِنْكُمْ أُولُوا الْأَحْلَامِ وَالنُّهَى، ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ، ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ .
