Sunan Ibn Majah 714
It was narrated that 'Uthman bin Abul-As (رضي الله تعالى عنه) said, the last instruction that the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) gave to me was that I should not appoint a Mu'adh-dhin who took payment for the Adhan."

عثمان بن ابی العاص ثقفی رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ نبی اکرم ﷺ نے مجھے آخری وصیت یہ کی تھی کہ میں کوئی ایسا مؤذن نہ رکھوں جو اذان پر اجرت لیتا ہو۔
Usman bin Abi al-Aas Thaqafi (رضي الله تعالى عنه) kehte hain ke Nabi-e-Akram (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne mujhe aakhiri wasiyat yeh ki thi ke main koi aisa mu'azzin na rakhun jo azan per ujrat leta ho.
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا حَفْصُ بْنُ غِيَاثٍ، عَنْ أَشْعَثَ، عَنْ الْحَسَنِ، عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ أَبِي الْعَاصِ، قَالَ: كَانَ آخِرُ مَا عَهِدَ إِلَيَّ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ لَا أَتَّخِذَ مُؤَذِّنًا يَأْخُذُ عَلَى الْأَذَانِ أَجْرًا .
