Sayyiduna Ibn 'Abbas, may Allah be pleased with him, reported that Sayyiduna 'Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, used to consult me along with the senior companions, may Allah be pleased with them. He would tell me, "Don't engage in conversation until the senior companions have spoken." So Sayyiduna 'Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, asked them about Laylat al-Qadr (the Night of Decree). They said, "Indeed, you know that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: 'Seek Laylat al-Qadr in the odd nights of the last ten days (of Ramadan).'" Then, they narrated the story of Ibn 'Abbas, may Allah be pleased with him, with Sayyiduna 'Umar, may Allah be pleased with him.
سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما بیان کرتے ہیں کہ سیدنا عمر رضی اللہ عنہ اکابر صحابہ کرام رضی اللہ عنہم کے ساتھ مجھ سے مشورہ لیا کرتے تھے اور مجھ سے فرماتے تھے کہ جب تک بزرگ صحابہ کرام بات چیت نہ کرلیں تم گفتگونہ کرنا۔ تو سیدنا عمر رضی اللہ عنہ نے اُن سے شب قدر کے بارے میں پوچھا تو کہا، یقیناً تمہیں معلوم ہے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا ہے: ”شب قدر کو آخری عشرے کی طاق راتوں میں تلاش کرو۔“ پھر اُنہوں نے ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما کا سیدنا عمر رضی اللہ عنہ کے ساتھ قصّہ بیان کیا۔
Sayyidna Ibn Abbas Radi Allahu Anhuma bayan karte hain ke Sayyidna Umar Radi Allahu Anhu akabir sahaba kiram Radi Allahu Anhum ke sath mujhse mashwara liya karte the aur mujhse farmate the ke jab tak buzurg sahaba kiram baat cheet na karlen tum guftugu karna. To Sayyidna Umar Radi Allahu Anhu ne unse Shab e Qadr ke bare mein poocha to kaha, yaqinan tumhen maloom hai ke Rasul Allah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ne farmaya hai: "Shab e Qadr ko aakhri ashray ki taak raton mein talaash karo." Phir unhon ne Ibn Abbas Radi Allahu Anhuma ka Sayyidna Umar Radi Allahu Anhu ke sath qissa bayan kiya.
حَدَّثَنَا سَلْمُ بْنُ جُنَادَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ إِدْرِيسَ ، عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ كُلَيْبٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ: كَانَ عُمَرُ يَسْأَلُنِي مَعَ الأَكَابِرِ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، وَكَانَ يَقُولُ: لا تَكَلَّمْ حَتَّى يَتَكَلَّمُوا. فَسَأَلَهُمْ عَنْ لَيْلَةِ الْقَدْرِ، فَقَالَ: لَقَدْ عَلِمْتُمْ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَ: " اطْلُبُوهَا فِي الْعَشْرِ الأَوَاخِرِ وِتْرًا" ، ثُمَّ ذَكَرَ قِصَّةَ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ مَعَ عُمَرَ
