Hazrat Adi bin Hatim (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that when this verse was revealed: “And eat and drink until the white thread (light of dawn) appears to you distinct from the black thread (darkness of night)” [Al-Baqarah 2:187] The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “It (the white thread) is not the whiteness of the day, but the whiteness of the day from the darkness of the night.”

سیدنا عدی بن حاتم رضی اللہ بیان کرتے ہیں کہ جب یہ آیت «وَكُلُوا وَاشْرَبُوا حَتَّىٰ يَتَبَيَّنَ لَكُمُ الْخَيْطُ الْأَبْيَضُ مِنَ الْخَيْطِ الْأَسْوَدِ» [ سورة البقرة: 187 ] ”اور تم کھاؤ اور پیو حتّیٰ کہ تمہارے لئے صبح کی سفید دھاری سیاہ دھاری سے واضح ہو جائے“ اُتری تو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”بیشک یہ رات کی سیاہی سے دن کی سفیدی کا نمایاں ہونا ہے۔“
Saydna Adi bin Hatim (RA) bayan karte hain keh jab yeh ayat ”Aur tum khao aur piyo hatta keh tumhare liye subah ki safed dhari siyah dhari se wazeh ho jaye“ utri to Rasool Allah (SAW) ne farmaya: ”Beshak yeh raat ki siyahi se din ki safedi ka numayan hona hai“
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنِيعٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ ، أَخْبَرَنَا حُصَيْنٌ ، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ ، أَخْبَرَنِي عَدِيُّ بْنُ حَاتِمٍ ، قَالَ: لَمَّا نَزَلَتْ وَكُلُوا وَاشْرَبُوا حَتَّى يَتَبَيَّنَ لَكُمُ الْخَيْطُ الأَبْيَضُ مِنَ الْخَيْطِ الأَسْوَدِ سورة البقرة آية 187 قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:" إِنَّمَا ذَلِكَ بَيَاضُ النَّهَارِ مِنْ سَوَادِ اللَّيْلِ"
