Abu Bakr b. Sulaiman b. Abu Hathma said that ‘Umar b. al-Khattab missed Sulaiman b. Abu Hathma at the Morning Prayer. In the morning ‘Umar went to the market, and Sulaiman’s house being between the mosque and the market, he met ash-Shifa’, Sulaiman’s mother, and said to her, “I did not see Sulaiman at the morning prayer.” She replied, “He spent the night in prayer and was overpowered by sleep.” Thereupon ‘Umar said, “I would rather be present with a company at the Morning Prayer than spend a night in prayer.” Malik transmitted it.

ابوبکر بن سلیمان بن ابوحشمہ بیان کرتے ہیں کہ عمر بن خطاب ؓ نے سلیمان بن ابوحشمہ کو نماز فجر میں نہ پایا ، اور عمر ؓ بازار تشریف لے گئے ، سلیمان کا گھر مسجد اور بازار کے درمیان واقع تھا ، تو آپ سلیمان کی والدہ شفاء کے پاس سے گزرے تو آپ نے ان سے پوچھا : میں نے نماز فجر میں سلیمان نہیں دیکھا ۔ تو انہوں نے عرض کیا ، وہ رات بھر نماز پڑھتا رہا اور پھر اسے نیند آ گئی ۔ عمر ؓ نے فرمایا : اگر میں نماز فجر با جماعت ادا کر لوں تو یہ مجھے رات بھر قیام کرنے سے زیادہ محبوب ہے ۔ ضعیف ۔
Abu Bakr bin Sulaiman bin Abu Hashama bayan karte hain ki Umar bin Khattab ne Sulaiman bin Abu Hashama ko namaz fajr mein nah paya, aur Umar bazar tashreef le gaye, Sulaiman ka ghar masjid aur bazar ke darmiyan waqe tha, to aap Sulaiman ki walida Shifa ke pass se guzre to aap ne un se pucha: main ne namaz fajr mein Sulaiman nahin dekha. To unhon ne arz kiya, woh raat bhar namaz parhta raha aur phir use neend aa gayi. Umar ne farmaya: agar main namaz fajr ba jamaat ada kar loon to yeh mujhe raat bhar qayam karne se ziada mahboob hai. وَعَنْ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ أَبِي حَثْمَةَ قَالَ: إِنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ فَقَدَ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنَ أَبِي حَثْمَةَ فِي صَلَاةِ الصُّبْحِ وَإِنَّ عُمَرَ غَدَا إِلَى السُّوقِ وَمَسْكَنُ سُلَيْمَانَ بَيْنَ الْمَسْجِدِ وَالسُّوقِ فَمَرَّ عَلَى الشِّفَاءِ أُمِّ سُلَيْمَانَ فَقَالَ لَهَا لَمْ أَرَ سُلَيْمَانَ فِي الصُّبْحِ فَقَالَتْ إِنَّهُ بَاتَ يُصَلِّي فَغَلَبَتْهُ عَيْنَاهُ فَقَالَ عُمَرُ لَأَنْ أَشْهَدَ صَلَاةَ الصُّبْحِ فِي الْجَمَاعَة أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ مِنْ أَنْ أَقُومَ لَيْلَةً. رَوَاهُ مَالك
