Abu Huraira reported the Prophet as saying, “There is nofara’and no‘atira.” He said that thefara’was the first animal born to them which they sacrificed to their idols, and the‘atirawas observed in Rajab.* * These were practices of the idolatrous pre-Islamic Arabs. While thefara'sacrifice was abolished in Islam, it is said that the sacrifice of a sheep or goat in Rajab, known as the‘atira, was continued in the early days of Islam and then abolished. (Bukhari and Muslim.)

ابوہریرہ ؓ سے روایت ہے کہ نبی ﷺ نے فرمایا :’’ فرع کوئی چیز ہے نہ عتیرہ ۔‘‘ ’’ فرع ‘‘ اونٹ کے پہلے بچے کو کہتے ہیں جسے مشرکین اپنے بتوں کے نام پر ذبح کیا کرتے تھے ، جبکہ ’’ عتیرہ ‘‘ اس بکری کو کہتے ہیں جس کی رجب کے مہینے میں قربانی کی جاتی تھی ۔ متفق علیہ ۔
Abu Huraira RA se riwayat hai keh Nabi SAW ne farmaya: ''Fara koi cheez hai na Atira.'' ''Fara'' onth ke pehle bache ko kehte hain jise mushrikeen apne buton ke naam par zibah kya karte the, jab keh ''Atira'' us bakri ko kehte hain jis ki Rajab ke mahine mein qurbani ki jati thi. Mutaffiq Alaih.
عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «لَا فَرَعَ وَلَا عَتِيرَةَ» . قَالَ: وَالْفرع: أول نتاج كَانَ ينْتج لَهُمْ كَانُوا يَذْبَحُونَهُ لِطَوَاغِيتِهِمْ. وَالْعَتِيرَةُ: فِي رَجَبٍ
