Ibn ‘Umar said God’s messenger prescribed as thezakatpayable by slave and freeman, male and female, young and old among the Muslims on breaking the fast of Ramadan a sa'* of dried dates or a sa' of barley, and gave command that this should be paid before the people went out to prayer. (Bukhari and Muslim.) * The Hijazi sa' is described as a measure equivalent to four mudds, the mudd being the amount a man with average size hands can hold with both hands extended.

ابن عمر ؓ بیان کرتے ہیں رسول اللہ ﷺ نے مسلمانوں کے ہر غلام و آزاد ، مرد و عورت اور چھوٹے بڑے پر ، ایک صاع کھجور یا ایک صاع (تقریباً اڑھائی کلو ) جو صدقہ فطر فرض فرمایا ، اور اس کے متعلق حکم فرمایا کہ اسے نماز عید کے لیے روانہ ہونے سے پہلے ادا کر دیا جائے ۔ متفق علیہ ۔
Ibn Umar bayan karte hain Rasool Allah ne musalmanon ke har ghulam o azad, mard o aurat aur chhote bare par, ek sa khajoor ya ek sa (taqreeban adhai kilo) jo sadqa fitr farz farmaya, aur iske mutalliq hukum farmaya ke ise namaz eid ke liye rawana hone se pehle ada kar diya jaye. Mutaffiq alaih.
عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ: فَرَضَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ زَكَاةَ الْفِطْرِ صَاعًا مِنْ تَمْرٍ أَوْ صَاعًا مِنْ شَعِيرٍ عَلَى الْعَبْدِ وَالْحُرِّ وَالذَّكَرِ وَالْأُنْثَى وَالصَّغِيرِ وَالْكَبِيرِ مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ وَأَمَرَ بِهَا أَنْ تُؤَدَّى قَبْلَ خُرُوجِ النَّاس إِلَى الصَّلَاة
