‘Uthman b. Hunaif told that a blind man came to the Prophet and asked him to pray to God to cure him. He replied, “If you wish, I shall make supplication to God, but if you wish you will endure, for that is better for you." The man asked him to make supplication. [‘Uthman] said:He then commanded him to perform ablution, doing it well, and make this supplication, “O God, I make request of Thee and I turn towards Thee by means of Thy prophet Muhammad, the prophet of mercy. By means of you 1 have turned towards my Lord to accomplish for me this need of mine. O God, make him an intercessor for me.” 1.bika. This would seem here to refer to the Prophet, although by itself it might naturally be taken to refer to God. The sentence which precedes certainly suggests that it must refer to the Prophet, in which case the translation might go, “by means of whom I have turned towards my Lord.” Changes of pronouns in Arabic often present difficulties to the translator. Tirmidhi transmitted it, saying this is ahasan sahih gharibtradition.

عثمان بن حنیف ؓ بیان کرتے ہیں ، ایک نابینا شخص نبی ﷺ کی خدمت میں حاضر ہوا تو اس نے عرض کیا ، اللہ سے دعا کریں کہ وہ مجھے عافیت عطا فرمائے ، آپ ﷺ نے فرمایا ’’ اگر تم چاہو تو میں دعا کرتا ہوں اور اگر تم چاہو تو صبر کرو تو وہ تمہارے لئے بہتر ہے ۔‘‘ اس نے عرض کیا ، آپ اللہ سے دعا فرمائیں ، آپ ﷺ نے اسے حکم فرمایا کہ خوب اچھی طرح وضو کرے اور ان الفاظ کے ساتھ دعا کرے :’’ اے اللہ ! میں تجھ سے سوال کرتا ہوں اور تیرے نبی ، نبی رحمت محمد ﷺ کے ذریعے تیری طرف متوجہ ہوتا ہوں ، بے شک میں نے آپ ﷺ کے ذریعے اپنے رب کی طرف توجہ کی تاکہ میری اس حاجت کے بارے میں میرے حق میں فیصلہ کیا جائے ، اے اللہ ! میرے بارے میں آپ ﷺ کی شفاعت قبول فرما ۔‘‘ ترمذی ۔ اور انہوں نے فرمایا : یہ حدیث حسن صحیح غریب ہے ۔ اسنادہ صحیح ، رواہ الترمذی ۔
Usman bin Hanif bayan karte hain, ek nabeena shakhs Nabi ki khidmat mein hazir hua to usne arz kiya, Allah se dua karen keh woh mujhe afiyat ata farmaye, Aap ne farmaya '' Agar tum chaho to main dua karta hun aur agar tum chaho to sabar karo to woh tumhare liye behtar hai .'' Usne arz kiya, Aap Allah se dua farmaen, Aap ne usay hukum farmaya keh khoob achi tarah wazu kare aur in alfaz ke sath dua kare :'' Aye Allah ! main tujh se sawal karta hun aur tere Nabi, Nabi Rehmat Muhammad ke zariye teri taraf mutawajjah hota hun, be shak maine Aap ke zariye apne Rab ki taraf tawajjuh ki takkeh meri is hajat ke bare mein mere haq mein faisla kiya jaye, Aye Allah ! mere bare mein Aap ki shifaat qubool farma .'' Tirmidhi . Aur unhon ne farmaya : yeh hadees hasan sahih gharib hai . Isnada sahih, riwayat al-Tirmidhi .
عَن عثمانَ بنِ حُنَيفٍ قَالَ: إِنَّ رَجُلًا ضَرِيرَ الْبَصَرِ أَتَى النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ: ادْعُ اللَّهَ أَنْ يُعَافِيَنِي فَقَالَ: «إِنْ شِئْتَ دَعَوْتُ وَإِنْ شِئْتَ صَبَرْتَ فَهُوَ خَيْرٌ لَكَ» . قَالَ: فَادْعُهُ قَالَ: فَأَمَرَهُ أَنْ يَتَوَضَّأَ فَيُحْسِنَ الْوُضُوءَ وَيَدْعُو بِهَذَا الدُّعَاءِ: «اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ وَأَتَوَجَّهُ إِلَيْكَ بِنَبِيِّكَ مُحَمَّدٍ نَبِيِّ الرَّحْمَةِ إِنِّي تَوَجَّهْتُ بِكَ إِلَى رَبِّي لِيَقْضِيَ لِي فِي حَاجَتِي هَذِهِ اللهُمَّ فشفّعْه فيَّ» . رَوَاهُ التِّرْمِذِيُّ وَقَالَ: هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ غَرِيب
