Ibn ‘Abbas reported God’s messenger as saying, “Islam does not allow for failure to perform the pilgrimage." Abu Dawud transmitted it. (The word used here issarura. The meaning is strictly "one who does not perform the pilgrimage." It is explained as coming fromsarrwhich indicates the act of confining, or withholding. Another meaning is abstinence from marriage, and the tradition is sometimes explained as meaning that Islam does not allow of celibacy; but while that is a possible interpretation it is not the appropriate one in this chapter).

ابن عباس ؓ بیان کرتے ہیں ، رسول اللہ ﷺ نے فرمایا :’’ اسلام میں ’’ صرورہ ‘‘ (گوشہ نشینی اختیار کرنا ، شادی نہ کرنا ، استطاعت کے باوجود حج نہ کرنا وغیرہ) نہیں ہے ۔‘‘ اسنادہ ضعیف ، رواہ ابوداؤد ۔
Ibn Abbas bayan karte hain, Rasool Allah ne farmaya: ''Islam mein ''surrah'' (gosha nashini ikhtiyar karna, shadi na karna, istataat ke bawajood Hajj na karna waghaira) nahi hai.'' Isnaadahu zaeef, riwayat Abu Dawood.
