‘Abdallah b. ‘Amr told of God’s messenger coming upon two groups in his mosque and saying, “They are both engaged in what is good, but one of them is superior to the other. These ones are praying and supplicating God who, if He wills, may answer their prayers but, if He wills, may refuse them. Those ones are learning knowledge* and teaching the ignorant, so they are superior. I was sent only as a teacher.” He then sat down among them. Darimi transmitted it. *The text hasal-fiqh au al-'ilm, fiqhand‘ilmhaving the same meaning, but the transmitter of the tradition was not sure which word was used by the Prophet on this occasion.

عبداللہ بن عمرو ؓ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ مسجد نبوی میں دو حلقوں کے پاس سے گزرے تو فرمایا :’’ دونوں خیرو بھلائی پر ہیں ، لیکن ان میں ایک دوسرے سے افضل ہے ، رہے وہ لوگ جو اللہ سے دعا کر رہے ہیں اور اس کے مشتاق ہیں ، پس اگر وہ چاہے تو انہیں عطا فرمائے اور اگر چاہے تو عطا نہ فرمائے ، اور رہے وہ لوگ جو فقہ یا علم سیکھ رہے ہیں اور جاہلوں کو تعلیم دے رہے ہیں ، تو وہ بہتر ہیں ، اور مجھے تو معلم بنا کر بھیجا گیا ہے ۔‘‘ پھر آپ اس حلقے میں بیٹھ گئے ۔ اسنادہ ضعیف ، رواہ الدارمی (۱/ ۹۹ ، ۱۰۰ ح ۳۵۵) ۔
Abdullah bin Amro se riwayat hai ki Rasool Allah masjid nabvi mein do halqon ke paas se guzre to farmaya: ''Donon khair o bhalayi par hain, lekin in mein ek dusre se afzal hai, rahe wo log jo Allah se dua kar rahe hain aur uske mushtaq hain, pas agar wo chahe to unhen ata farmaye aur agar chahe to ata na farmaye, aur rahe wo log jo fiqh ya ilm seekh rahe hain aur jahilon ko taleem de rahe hain, to wo behtar hain, aur mujhe to mu'allim bana kar bheja gaya hai.'' Phir aap is halqe mein baith gaye. Asnada zaeef, riwayat al darmi (1/ 99, 100 h 355).
وَعَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَرَّ بِمَجْلِسَيْنِ فِي مَسْجِدِهِ فَقَالَ: «كِلَاهُمَا عَلَى خَيْرٍ وَأَحَدُهُمَا أَفْضَلُ مِنْ صَاحِبِهِ أَمَّا هَؤُلَاءِ فَيَدْعُونَ اللَّهَ وَيَرْغَبُونَ إِلَيْهِ فَإِنْ شَاءَ أَعْطَاهُمْ وَإِنْ شَاءَ مَنَعَهُمْ. وَأَمَّا هَؤُلَاءِ فَيَتَعَلَّمُونَ الْفِقْهَ أَوِ الْعِلْمَ وَيُعَلِّمُونَ الْجَاهِلَ فَهُمْ أَفْضَلُ وَإِنَّمَا بُعِثْتُ مُعَلِّمًا» ثمَّ جلس فيهم. رَوَاهُ الدَّارمِيّ
