'A'isha said:The Prophet used to spend time with Zainab daughter of Jahsh and that he once drank honey at her house, so Hafsa and she agreed that the one whom the Prophet visited first should say, “I notice that you have an odour of the gum of the mimosa.* Have you eaten some?” When he visited one of them and she said that to him he replied, “Don’t worry; I drank some honey at the house of Zainab daughter of Jahsh, but I swear that I shall not do it again. Do not tell anyone of that.” [He said this] desiring to please his wives, and then there came down, “O prophet, why do you hold to be forbidden what God has made lawful for you, desiring to please your wives? (Al-Qur’an 66:1). *Maghafir; plural ofMughfur, is here used. It is the gum of a kind of mimosa called‘urfut, the odour of which is unpleasant. (Bukhari and Muslim.)

عائشہ ؓ سے روایت ہے کہ نبی ﷺ زینب بن جحش ؓ کے ہاں ٹھہرا کرتے تھے اور وہاں شہد پیا کرتے تھے ، پس میں اور حفصہ ؓ نے طے کیا کہ نبی ﷺ جس کے پاس بھی تشریف لائیں تو وہ کہے : مجھے آپ سے مغافیر (کھانے کا گوند جو عرفط پودے سے نکلتا ہے) کی بُو آ رہی ہے ، کیا آپ نے مغافیر کھایا ہے ؟ چنانچہ آپ ان دونوں میں سے کسی ایک کے ہاں تشریف لے گئے تو اس نے آپ سے یہی کہا ، آپ ﷺ نے فرمایا :’’ ایسی کوئی بات نہیں ، میں نے تو زینب کے ہاں شہد پیا ہے ، میں دوبارہ اسے نہیں پیوں گا ، اور میں نے حلف اٹھا لیا ، تم کسی کو اس کے متعلق نہ بتانا ۔‘‘ آپ اپنی ازواج کی رضامندی چاہتے تھے چنانچہ یہ آیت نازل ہوئی :’’ اے نبی آپ ﷺ نے اس چیز کو کیوں حرام قرار دیا جسے اللہ نے آپ کے لیے حلال قرار دیا ہے ، آپ اپنی ازواج کی رضامندی چاہتے ہیں ؟‘‘ متفق علیہ ۔
Ayesha ra se riwayat hai ki Nabi saw Zainab bin Jahsh ra ke haan thehra karte thay aur wahan shahad piya karte thay, pas main aur Hafsa ra ne tay kiya ki Nabi saw jis ke pas bhi tashreef laein to woh kahe: mujhe aap se maghafir ki boo aa rahi hai, kya aap ne maghafir khaya hai? Chunancha aap in donon mein se kisi ek ke haan tashreef le gaye to usne aap se yahi kaha, aap saw ne farmaya: ''aisi koi baat nahin, main ne to Zainab ke haan shahad piya hai, main dobara isay nahin piyon ga, aur main ne halaf utha liya, tum kisi ko iske mutalliq na batana.'' Aap apni azwaj ki raza mandi chahte thay chunancha yeh ayat nazil hui: ''Aye Nabi aap saw ne is cheez ko kyon haram qarar diya jise Allah ne aap ke liye halal qarar diya hai, aap apni azwaj ki raza mandi chahte hain?'' Muttafiq alaih.
وَعَنْ عَائِشَةَ: أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَمْكُثُ عِنْدَ زَيْنَبَ بِنْتِ جَحْشٍ وَشَرِبَ عِنْدَهَا عَسَلًا فَتَوَاصَيْتُ أَنَا وَحَفْصَةُ أَنَّ أَيَّتَنَا دَخَلَ عَلَيْهَا النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَلْتَقُلْ: إِنِّي أَجِدُ مِنْكَ رِيحَ مَغَافِيرَ أَكَلْتَ مَغَافِيرَ؟ فَدَخَلَ عَلَى إِحْدَاهُمَا فَقَالَتْ لَهُ ذَلِكَ فَقَالَ: «لَا بَأْسَ شَرِبْتُ عَسَلًا عِنْدَ زَيْنَبَ بِنْتِ جَحْشٍ فَلَنْ أَعُودَ لَهُ وَقَدْ حَلَفْتُ لَا تُخْبِرِي بِذَلِكِ أَحَدًا» يَبْتَغِي مرضاة أَزوَاجه فَنَزَلَتْ: (يَا أَيُّهَا النَّبِيُّ لِمَ تُحَرِّمُ مَا أَحَلَّ الله لَك تبتغي مرضاة أَزوَاجك)\الْآيَة\
