Salama b. al-Akwa‘ told that God’s Messenger went out to some people of Aslam who were having a shooting match in thesuq* and said, “Shoot, sons of Ishmael, for your ancestor was an archer. I am supporting the B. so and so,” referring to one of the two parties. They then stopped, and when he asked what was the matter, they replied, “How can we shoot when you are supporting the B. so and so?” He said, “Shoot; I am supporting you all.” * Different explanations are given. It may be in the market-place (suq).Mirqat, iv, 202 is inclined to understandsuqas the plural ofsaq(leg) and interpret it as meaning that they were on their feet, not riding camels. It has even been said that the reading isas-Sauqand that this is the name of a place; but I can find no reference to any such place. This all goes to show how difficult interpreters can make a passage seem when they let their imagination loose. Bukhari transmitted it.

سلمہ بن اکوع ؓ بیان کرتے ہیں ، رسول اللہ ﷺ اسلم قبیلہ کے لوگوں کے پاس تشریف لائے ، وہ بازار میں تیر اندازی کر رہے تھے ، آپ ﷺ نے فرمایا :’’ بنو اسماعیل ! تیر اندازی کرو ، کیونکہ تمہارے باپ تیر انداز تھے ، اور میں فلاں قبیلے کے ساتھ ہوں ۔‘‘ انہوں نے اپنے ہاتھ روک لیے تو آپ ﷺ نے فرمایا :’’ تمہیں کیا ہوا ؟‘‘ انہوں نے عرض کیا ، ہم کیسے تیر اندازی کریں جبکہ آپ فلاں قبیلے کے ساتھ ہیں ، آپ ﷺ نے فرمایا :’’ تیر اندازی کرو ، اور میں آپ سب کے ساتھ ہوں ۔‘‘ رواہ البخاری ۔
Salma bin Akwa RA bayan karte hain, Rasool Allah SAW Aslam qabeele ke logon ke paas tashreef laaye, woh bazaar mein teer andazi kar rahe the, Aap SAW ne farmaya: ''Bani Israel! Teer andazi karo, kyunki tumhare baap teer andaz the, aur mein falan qabeele ke sath hun.'' Unhon ne apne hath rok liye to Aap SAW ne farmaya: ''Tumhein kya hua?'' Unhon ne arz kiya, hum kaise teer andazi karein jabke Aap falan qabeele ke sath hain, Aap SAW ne farmaya: ''Teer andazi karo, aur mein aap sab ke sath hun.'' Riwayat Bukhari.
وَعَن سلَمةَ بنِ الأكوَعِ قَالَ: خَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى قَوْمٍ مِنْ أَسْلَمَ يَتَنَاضَلُونَ بِالسُّوقِ فَقَالَ: «ارْمُوا بَنِي إِسْمَاعِيلَ فَإِنَّ أَبَاكُمْ كَانَ رَامِيًا وَأَنَا مَعَ بَنِي فُلَانٍ» لِأَحَدِ الْفَرِيقَيْنِ فَأَمْسَكُوا بِأَيْدِيهِمْ فَقَالَ: «مَا لَكُمْ؟» قَالُوا: وَكَيْفَ نَرْمِي وَأَنْتَ مَعَ بَنِي فُلَانٍ؟ قَالَ: «ارْمُوا وَأَنا مَعكُمْ كلكُمْ» . رَوَاهُ البُخَارِيّ
