Sahl b. Mu'adh reported his father as saying:We went on an expedition with the Prophet and the people occupied so much space that they encroached on the road,* so God’s Prophet sent a man to announce among the people, “Those who occupy much space or encroach on the road will not be credited with jihad.” * This refers to times when they were encamping. Abu Dawud transmitted it.

سہل بن معاذ اپنے والد سے روایت کرتے ہیں ، انہوں نے کہا : ہم نے نبی ﷺ کے ساتھ جہاد کیا تو لوگوں نے (زائد از ضرورت جگہیں گھیر کر) منزلوں کو تنگ کر دیا ، اور راستے بند کر دیے ، نبی ﷺ نے منادی کرنے والے کو بھیجا کہ وہ لوگوں میں اعلان کر دے کہ جس نے منزل تنگ کی یا راستہ بند کیا تو اس کا کوئی جہاد نہیں ۔‘‘ اسنادہ حسن ، رواہ ابوداؤد ۔
Sahl bin Muaz apne walid se riwayat karte hain, unhon ne kaha: Hum ne Nabi (ﷺ) ke sath jihad kiya to logon ne (zaid az zaroorat jagahen gher kar) manzilon ko tang kar diya, aur raste band kar diye, Nabi (ﷺ) ne munadi karne wale ko bheja ke woh logon mein elaan kar de ke jis ne manzil tang ki ya rasta band kiya to uska koi jihad nahin. وَعَن سهلِ بن مُعاذٍ عَن أبيهِ قَالَ: غَزَوْنَا مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَضَيَّقَ النَّاسُ الْمُنَازِلَ وَقَطَعُوا الطَّرِيقَ فَبَعَثَ نَبِيُّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مُنَادِيًا يُنادي فِي النَّاسِ: «أَنَّ مَنْ ضَيَّقَ مَنْزِلًا أَوْ قَطَعَ طَرِيقًا فَلَا جِهَادَ لَهُ» . رَوَاهُ أَبُو دَاوُد
