Salama b. al-Akwa‘ said:God’s Messenger sent his riding-beasts with his servant Rabah and I went along with him. In the morning ‘Abd ar-Rahman al-Fazari raided God’s Messenger’s riding-beasts, so I went up on a mound and shouted three times facing Medina, “A morning raid!” I then went after the people shooting arrows at them and composing words in therajazmetre saying, “I am the son of al-Akwa‘; today is the day [of the destruction] of the ignoble ones.”* I kept on shooting at them and killing their beasts so that they had to go on foot till there was no riding beast of God’s Messenger created by God which I had not gone ahead of. Then I followed them shooting at them till they threw away more than thirty cloaks and thirty lances to lighten themselves, and they threw nothing away without my putting stones on it to mark it for God’s Messenger and his companions to notice them. This went on till I saw God’s Messenger’s horsemen. Aba Qatada, God's Messenger's horseman, caught up on 'Abd ar-Rahman and killed him, and God's Messenger said, “Our best horseman today is Abu Qatada and our best footman Salama.” He then gave me two portions a horseman’s and a footman’s, and after giving me them both he took me up behind him on al-‘Adba’ on our way back to Medina. *The line, which is evidently an example of the dimeter of therajazmetre, has something missing at the beginning. It goes: انا ابن الاکوع والیوم الرضع The full form of therajazhas the footmustaf'ilunsix times; the dimeter has it four times. In the line above two extra syallables are required at the beginning. Muslim transmitted it.

سلمہ بن اکوع ؓ بیان کرتے ہیں ، رسول اللہ ﷺ نے رباح ، جو کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ کے غلام تھے ، کے ساتھ اپنے اونٹ بھیجے ، اور میں بھی اس کے ساتھ تھا ، جب ہم نے صبح کی تو عبدالرحمن فرازی نے اچانک رسول اللہ ﷺ کے اونٹوں پر دھاوا بول دیا ، میں ایک اونچی جگہ پر کھڑا ہوا اور مدینہ کی طرف رخ کر کے تین بار آواز دی ، لڑائی کا وقت آ گیا ، پھر میں نے ان لوگوں کا پیچھا کیا ، میں ان پر تیر برسا رہا تھا اور رجزیہ شعر پڑھ رہا تھا : میں ابن اکوع ہوں ، اور آج رذیل لوگوں کی ہلاکت کا دن ہے ۔ چنانچہ میں ان پر تیر برساتا رہا اور ان کی سواریوں کو زخمی کرتا رہا ، حتی کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ کے تمام اونٹ میں نے ان کے قبضہ سے آزاد کروا لیے ، اور میں پھر بھی ان کا پیچھا کر کے ان پر تیر اندازی کرتا رہا حتی کہ انہوں نے وزن ہلکا کرنے کے لیے تیس چادریں اور تیس نیزے پھینک دیے ، وہ جو بھی چیز پھینکتے میں اس پر پتھر کی نشانی لگاتا جاتا تاکہ رسول اللہ ﷺ اور آپ کے صحابہ اسے پہچان سکیں ، حتی کہ میں نے رسول اللہ ﷺ کے شہ سواروں کو دیکھا اور رسول اللہ ﷺ کے شہ سوار ابوقتادہ ؓ نے عبدالرحمن فرازی کو جا لیا اور اسے قتل کر دیا ، رسول اللہ ﷺ نے فرمایا :’’ آج ہمارا بہترین شہ سوار ابوقتادہ ؓ ہیں ، اور ہمارا بہترین پیادہ سلمہ ہیں ۔‘‘ راوی بیان کرتے ہیں ، پھر رسول اللہ ﷺ نے مجھے دو حصے دیے ، ایک حصہ گھڑ سوار کا اور ایک حصہ پیادہ کا ، آپ نے وہ دونوں میرے لیے جمع فرما دیے ، پھر رسول اللہ ﷺ نے مدینہ واپس آتے ہوئے مجھے (اپنی اونٹنی) عضباء پر اپنے پیچھے سوار کر لیا ۔ رواہ مسلم ۔
Salma bin Akwa (RA) bayan karte hain, Rasool Allah (SAW) ne Rabah, jo keh Rasool Allah (SAW) ke ghulam thay, ke sath apne unt bheje, aur main bhi uske sath tha, jab hum ne subah ki to Abdul Rahman Faraazi ne achanak Rasool Allah (SAW) ke unton par dhaaawa bol diya, main ek unchi jaga par khara hua aur Madinah ki taraf rukh kar ke teen baar aawaz di, larai ka waqt aa gaya, phir main ne un logon ka picha kiya, main un par teer barsa raha tha aur rajaziya sher parh raha tha: Main Ibn Akwa hun, aur aaj razeel logon ki halakat ka din hai. Chunancha main un par teer barsata raha aur un ki sawariyon ko zakhmi karta raha, hatta ke Rasool Allah (SAW) ke tamam unt main ne un ke kabze se aazaad karwa liye, aur main phir bhi un ka picha kar ke un par teer andazi karta raha hatta ke unhon ne wazan halka karne ke liye tees chadariyan aur tees neze phenk diye, woh jo bhi cheez phenkte main us par pathar ki nishani lagata jata taake Rasool Allah (SAW) aur aap ke sahaba use pehchan sakein, hatta ke main ne Rasool Allah (SAW) ke shah sawaron ko dekha aur Rasool Allah (SAW) ke shah sawar Abu Qatadah (RA) ne Abdul Rahman Faraazi ko ja liya aur use qatal kar diya, Rasool Allah (SAW) ne farmaya: ''Aaj hamara behtarin shah sawar Abu Qatadah (RA) hain, aur hamara behtarin paidal Salma hain.'' Rawi bayan karte hain, phir Rasool Allah (SAW) ne mujhe do hisse diye, ek hissa ghur sawar ka aur ek hissa paidah ka, aap ne woh dono mere liye jama farma diye, phir Rasool Allah (SAW) ne Madinah wapas aate hue mujhe (apni untni) Adhba par apne peeche sawar kar liya. وَعَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ الْأَكْوَعِ قَالَ: بَعَثَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِظَهْرِهِ مَعَ رَبَاحٍ غُلَامِ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَنَا مَعَهُ فَلَمَّا أَصْبَحْنَا إِذَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ الْفَزَارِيُّ قَدْ أَغَارَ عَلَى ظَهْرِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقُمْتُ عَلَى أَكَمَةٍ فَاسْتَقْبَلْتُ الْمَدِينَةَ فَنَادَيْتُ ثَلَاثًا يَا صَبَاحَاهْ ثُمَّ خَرَجْتُ فِي آثَارِ الْقَوْمِ أَرْمِيهِمْ بِالنَّبْلِ وَأَرْتَجِزُ وَأَقُولُ:\أَنَا ابْنُ الْأَكْوَعْ وَالْيَوْمُ يَوْمُ الرُّضَّعْ\فَمَا زِلْتُ أَرْمِيهِمْ وَأَعْقِرُ بِهِمْ حَتَّى مَا خلَقَ اللَّهُ مِنْ بَعِيرٍ مِنْ ظَهْرِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَّا خَلَّفْتُهُ وَرَاءَ ظَهْرِي ثُمَّ اتَّبَعْتُهُمْ أَرْمِيهِمْ حَتَّى أَلْقَوْا أَكْثَرَ مِنْ ثَلَاثِينَ بُرْدَةً وَثَلَاثِينَ رُمْحًا يَسْتَخِفُّونَ وَلَا يَطْرَحُونَ شَيْئًا إِلَّا جَعَلْتُ عَلَيْهِ آرَامًا مِنَ الْحِجَارَةِ يَعْرِفُهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَصْحَابُهُ حَتَّى رَأَيْتُ فَوَارِسَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَلَحِقَ أَبُو قَتَادَةَ فَارِسُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِعَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ فَقَتَلَهُ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «خَيْرُ فُرْسَانِنَا الْيَوْمَ أَبُو قَتَادَةَ وَخَيْرُ رَجَّالَتِنَا سَلَمَةُ» . قَالَ: ثُمَّ أَعْطَانِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سَهْمَيْنِ: سَهْمَ الْفَارِسِ وَسَهْمَ الرَّاجِلِ فَجَمَعَهُمَا إِلَيَّ جَمِيعًا ثُمَّ أَرْدَفَنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَرَاءَهُ عَلَى الْعَضْبَاءِ رَاجِعَيْنِ إِلَى الْمَدِينَةِ. رَوَاهُ مُسلم\
