Abu Waqid al-Laithi told that when the Prophet came to Medina the people used to cut off camels' humps and cut the fat tails of sheep, so he said, “Whatever is cut off an animal when it is alive is dead* and must not be eaten.” *i.e. it is treated as something which had died a natural death, and therefore may not be lawfully eaten. Tirmidhi and Abu Dawud transmitted it.

ابوواقد لیشی ؓ بیان کرتے ہیں ، نبی ﷺ مدینہ تشریف لائے تو اہل مدینہ اونٹوں کے کوہان کاٹ لیا کرتے تھے دنبوں کی چکیاں کاٹ لیا کرتے تھے ، آپ ﷺ نے فرمایا :’’ جو حصہ زندہ جانور سے کاٹ لیا جائے تو وہ (کٹا ہوا حصہ) مردار ہے ، اسے نہ کھایا جائے ۔‘‘ اسنادہ حسن ، رواہ الترمذی و ابوداؤد ۔
AbuWaqid Laithi RA bayan karte hain, Nabi SAW Madina tashreef laaye to ahle Madina oonton ke kohan kaat liya karte thay danbon ki chakkiyan kaat liya karte thay, Aap SAW ne farmaya: ''Jo hissa zinda jaanwar se kaat liya jaye to wo (kata hua hissa) murdar hai, ise na khaya jaye.'' Isnaadahu hasan, riwayatul Tirmizi wa Abu Dawood.
عَن أبي وَافد اللَّيْثِيّ قَالَ: قَدِمَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْمَدِينَةَ وَهُمْ يَجُبُّونَ أَسْنِمَةَ الْإِبِلِ وَيَقْطَعُونَ أَلْيَاتِ الْغَنَمِ فَقَالَ: «مَا يُقْطَعُ مِنَ الْبَهِيمَةِ وَهِيَ حَيَّةٌ فَهِيَ مَيْتَةٌ لَا تُؤْكَلُ» . رَوَاهُ التِّرْمِذِيُّ وَأَبُو دَاوُد
