Umayya b. Makhshi told that a man who was eating and had not mentioned God’s name said when he raised the last morsel to his mouth, “In the name of God at the beginning and at the end of it.” The Prophet laughed and said, “The devil kept eating along with him, but when he mentioned God’s name he vomited what was in his belly.” Abu Dawud transmitted it.

امیہ بن مخشی ؓ بیان کرتے ہیں ، ایک آدمی کھانا کھا رہا تھا ، اس نے بسم اللہ نہیں پڑھی تھی ، حتی کہ ایک لقمہ باقی رہ گیا اور وہ لقمہ جب اس نے اسے منہ کی طرف اٹھایا تو اس نے کہا :’’ بسم اللہ اولہ و آخرہ ‘‘ تو (یہ سن کر) نبی ﷺ مسکرا دیے ، پھر فرمایا :’’ شیطان اس کے ساتھ کھاتا رہا حتی کہ جب اس نے اللہ کا نام لیا تو اس نے اپنے پیٹ کا سب کچھ قے کر دیا ۔‘‘ اسنادہ حسن ، رواہ ابوداؤد ۔
Ame bin Makhshi bayan karte hain, ek aadmi khana kha raha tha, usne Bismillah nahin parhi thi, hatta ke ek lukma baqi reh gaya aur wo lukma jab usne use munh ki taraf uthaya to usne kaha: "Bismillah awwalahu wa akhirahu" to (ye sunkar) Nabi muskura diye, phir farmaya: "Shaitan uske sath khata raha hatta ke jab usne Allah ka naam liya to usne apne pet ka sab kuch qay kar diya." Isnaadahu hasan, riwayat Abu Dawood.
وَعَن أُميَّةَ بن مَخْشِيٍّ قَالَ: كَانَ رَجُلٌ يَأْكُلُ فَلَمْ يُسَمِّ حَتَّى لَمْ يَبْقَ مِنْ طَعَامِهِ إِلَّا لُقْمَةٌ فَلَمَّا رَفَعَهَا إِلَى فِيهِ قَالَ: بِسْمِ اللَّهِ أَوَّلَهُ وَآخِرَهُ فَضَحِكَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ثُمَّ قَالَ: «مَا زَالَ الشَّيْطَانُ يَأْكُلُ مَعَهُ فَلَمَّا ذَكَرَ اسْمَ اللَّهِ اسْتَقَاءَ مَا فِي بَطْنه» . رَوَاهُ أَبُو دَاوُد
