Aba Huraira told of hearing God’s messenger say:“Nigella seed is a remedy for every disease butsam.” Ibn Shihab said sant is death and the nigella seed isshuniz.* (Bukhari and Muslim.) *Taj al-’arussays this is a Persian word which came to be used by Arabs. It indicates a seed of a species of nigella.

ابوہریرہ ؓ سے روایت ہے کہ انہوں نے رسول اللہ ﷺ کو فرماتے ہوئے سنا :’’ کلونجی میں موت کے سوا ہر بیماری سے شفا ہے ۔‘‘ ابن شہاب نے فرمایا : ((السام)) سے مراد موت اور ((الحبۃ السوداء)) سے کلونجی مراد ہے ۔ متفق علیہ ۔
Abu Hurairah RA se riwayat hai keh unhon ne Rasul Allah SAW ko farmate huye suna: ''Kalonji mein mout ke siwa har bimari se shifa hai.'' Ibn e Shahab ne farmaya: ''Al sam se murad mout aur al Habatul Sauda se kalonji murad hai.'' Muttafiq alaih.
وَعَن أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: «فِي الْحَبَّةِ السَّوْدَاءِ شِفَاءٌ مِنْ كُلِّ دَاءٍ إِلَّا السَّامَ» . قَالَ ابْنُ شِهَابٍ: السَّامُ: الْمَوْتُ وَالْحَبَّةُ السَّوْدَاءُ: الشُّونِيزُ
