It is narrated by Ibn Mundah, that Safinah, the freed slave of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) got separated from the army in the land of Rome, or he was taken prisoner. He started running in search of the army when suddenly he encountered a lion. He said: "O Abu Al-Harith (kunya of the lion)! I am the freed slave of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and this is the problem I am facing." The lion came in front of him wagging its tail, until it stood by his side. Whenever it heard a (fearful) sound, it would turn towards it, then it would come back to him, until he joined the army. Then the lion went back. (The chain of narrators of this hadith is weak, as mentioned in Sharh Al-Sunnah).

ابن منکدر سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ کے آزاد کردہ غلام سفینہ ؓ سرزمین روم میں لشکر سے بچھڑ گئے ، یا انہیں قید کر لیا گیا ، وہ لشکر کی تلاش میں دوڑنے لگے تو اچانک شیر سے سامنا ہو گیا ، انہوں نے فرمایا : ابو الحارث (شیر کی کنیت) ! میں رسول اللہ ﷺ کا آزاد کردہ غلام ہوں ، میرے ساتھ یہ یہ مسئلہ بنا ہے ، شیر دم ہلاتا ہوا آپ کے سامنے آیا ، حتیٰ کہ وہ آپ کے پہلو میں کھڑا ہو گیا ، جب وہ کہیں سے (خوفناک) آواز سنتا تو وہ اس کی طرف متوجہ ہو جاتا ، پھر وہ ان کی طرف آ جاتا حتیٰ کہ وہ لشکر کے ساتھ جا ملے پھر شیر واپس چلا گیا ۔ اسنادہ ضعیف ، رواہ فی شرح السنہ ۔
Ibn Mundhir se riwayat hai ki Rasulullah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ke azad kardah ghulam Safina raziallahu anhu sarzameen Room mein lashkar se bicharr gaye, ya unhen qaid kar liya gaya, woh lashkar ki talash mein daudne lage to achanak sher se samna ho gaya, unhon ne farmaya: Abul Haris (sher ki kunniyat)! mein Rasulullah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ka azad kardah ghulam hoon, mere sath ye ye masla bana hai, sher dum hilata hua aap ke samne aaya, hatta ki woh aap ke pahloo mein khara ho gaya, jab woh kahin se (khaufnak) aawaz sunta to woh us ki taraf mutawajjah ho jata, phir woh un ki taraf aa jata hatta ki woh lashkar ke sath ja mile phir sher wapis chala gaya. Isnaadahu zaeef, riwayahu fi Sharh al-Sunnah.
وَعَنْ ابْنِ الْمُنْكَدِرِ أَنَّ سَفِينَةَ مَوْلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَخْطَأَ الْجَيْشَ بِأَرْضِ الرُّومِ أَوْ أُسِرَ فَانْطَلَقَ هَارِبًا يَلْتَمِسُ الْجَيْشَ فَإِذَا هُوَ بِالْأَسَدِ. فَقَالَ: يَا أَبَا الْحَارِثِ أَنَا مَوْلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ مِنْ أَمْرِي كَيْتَ وَكَيْتَ فَأَقْبَلَ الْأَسَدُ لَهُ بَصْبَصَةٌ حَتَّى قَامَ إِلَى جَنْبِهِ كُلَّمَا سَمِعَ صَوْتًا أَهْوَى إِلَيْهِ ثُمَّ أَقْبَلَ يَمْشِي إِلَى جَنْبِهِ حَتَّى بَلَغَ الْجَيْشَ ثُمَّ رَجَعَ الْأَسَدُ. رَوَاهُ فِي «شَرْحِ السُّنَّةِ»
