It is narrated by Abu Nadr that he learnt from a letter sent by a man from the Aslam tribe, who was a companion of the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) and whose name was 'Abdullah bin Abu Aufa (رضي الله تعالى عنه), to 'Umar bin 'Ubaidullah (رضي الله تعالى عنه) when the latter marched upon Haruriyya (Khawarij) informing him that the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم), in one of those days when lie was confronting the enemy waited until the sun had declined, then he stood up (to address the people) and said, ‘O you men, do not wish for an encounter with the enemy. Pray to Allah to grant you security; (but) when you must encounter them exercise patience, and you should know that Paradise is under the shadows of the swords. Then the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) stood up (again) and said, O Allah, revealer of the Book, Disperser of the clouds, Defeater of the hordes, put our enemy to rout and help us against them.
حضرت عبداللہ بن ابی رضی اللہ تعالی عنہ نے عمر بن عبیداللہ رضی اللہ تعالی عنہ کو جب وہ خوارج سے جنگ کے لیے نکلا آگاہی کے لیے یہ خط لکھا کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم بعض اوقات دشمن کے مقابلہ کے لیے نکلتے تو سورج ڈھلنے کا انتظار فرماتے، جب سورج ڈھل جاتا تو یہ خطاب فرماتے، ”اے لوگو، دشمن سے مڈ بھیڑ کی آرزو نہ کرو اور اللہ سے عافیت کی درخواست کرو اور جب دشمن سے ٹکراؤ ہو جائے تو ثابت قدم رہو اور یقین کر لو، جنت تلواروں کے سایہ تلے ہے۔“ پھر آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے کھڑے ہو کر یہ دعا فرمائی: ”اے اللہ! اے کتاب کے اتارنے والے، بادلوں کو چلانے والے، لشکروں کو شکست سے دوچار کرنے والے، ان کو شکست دے اور ہمیں ان کے خلاف مدد دے۔“
Hazrat Abdullah bin Abi (Radi Allahu Anhu) ne Umar bin Ubaidullah (Radi Allahu Anhu) ko jab woh khawarij se jang ke liye nikla aagahi ke liye yeh khat likha ke Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) baaz auqat dushman ke muqabla ke liye nikalte to suraj dhalne ka intezar farmate. Jab suraj dhal jata to yeh khitab farmate: 'Ay logo, dushman se mud-bher ki aarzu na karo aur Allah se aafiyat ki darkhwast karo aur jab dushman se takrao ho jaye to thabit-qadam raho aur yaqeen kar lo, jannat talwaron ke saye tale hai.' Phir aap (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne khade ho kar yeh dua farmayi: 'Ay Allah! Ay kitab ke utarne wale, baadlon ko chalane wale, lashkaron ko shikast se do-char karne wale, un ko shikast de aur humein un ke khilaf madad de.'
