Chapter: The Prohibition Of Holding Grudges

باب النَّهْىِ عَنِ الشَّحْنَاءِ، وَالتَّهَاجُرِ، ‏‏

Sahih Muslim 2565a, b

Abu Huraira (رضي الله تعالى عنه) reported Allah's Apostle (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) as saying, the gates of Paradise are not opened but on two days, Monday, and Thursday and then every servant (of Allah) is granted pardon who does not associate anything with Allah except the person in whose (heart) there is hatred against his brother. And it would be said, look towards both until there is reconciliation; look toward both of them until there is reconciliation; look towards both of them until there is reconciliation. This Hadith has been narrated on the authority of Suhail who narrated it on the authority of his father with the chain of transmitters of MaIik, but with this variation of wording, ‘those would not be granted pardon who boycott each other.’

حضرت ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا:" سوموار اورجمعرات کے روز جنت کے دروازے کھولےجاتے ہیں اور ہر اس بندے کو معاف کردیا جاتا ہے،جو اللہ کے ساتھ کسی کو شریک نہیں ٹھہراتا،سوائے اس بندے کے کہ اس کے اور اس کے بھائی کے درمیان کینہ اور عداوت ہے،ان کے بارےمیں کہاجاتا ہے،ان دونوں کامعاملہ مؤخر کرو،حتیٰ کہ آپس میں صلح کرلیں،ان دونوں کو مہلت دو،حتیٰ کہ باہمی صلح کرلیں،ان دونوں کو ڈھیل دو،حتیٰ کہ آپس میں صلح کرلیں۔"

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu) se riwayat hai ke Rasool Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne farmaya: " Somwar aur Jumu'ah ke roz jannat ke darwaze khole jaate hain aur har us bande ko maaf kar diya jata hai, jo Allah ke saath kisi ko shareek nahi thehrata, siwaye us bande ke ke us ke aur us ke bhai ke darmiyan keena aur adawat hai, un ke bare mein kaha jata hai, in donon ka muamla muakhkhir karo, hatta ke aapas mein sulah kar lein, in donon ko muhlat do, hatta ke bahami sulah kar lein, in donon ko dheel do, hatta ke aapas mein sulah kar lein."

حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ مَالِكِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ، فِيمَا قُرِئَ عَلَيْهِ عَنْ سُهَيْلٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ ‏"‏ تُفْتَحُ أَبْوَابُ الْجَنَّةِ يَوْمَ الاِثْنَيْنِ وَيَوْمَ الْخَمِيسِ فَيُغْفَرُ لِكُلِّ عَبْدٍ لاَ يُشْرِكُ بِاللَّهِ شَيْئًا إِلاَّ رَجُلاً كَانَتْ بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَ أَخِيهِ شَحْنَاءُ فَيُقَالُ أَنْظِرُوا هَذَيْنِ حَتَّى يَصْطَلِحَا أَنْظِرُوا هَذَيْنِ حَتَّى يَصْطَلِحَا أَنْظِرُوا هَذَيْنِ حَتَّى يَصْطَلِحَا ‏"‏ ‏.‏ حَدَّثَنِيهِ زُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ، حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، وَأَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدَةَ، الضَّبِّيُّ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ الدَّرَاوَرْدِيِّ، كِلاَهُمَا عَنْ سُهَيْلٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، بِإِسْنَادِ مَالِكٍ نَحْوَ حَدِيثِهِ غَيْرَ أَنَّ فِي حَدِيثِ الدَّرَاوَرْدِيِّ ‏"‏ إِلاَّ الْمُتَهَاجِرَيْنِ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ مِنْ رِوَايَةِ ابْنِ عَبْدَةَ وَقَالَ قُتَيْبَةُ ‏"‏ إِلاَّ الْمُهْتَجِرَيْنِ ‏"‏ ‏.‏

Abu Huraira (رضئ هللا تعالی عنہ) reported it as a Marfu' Hadith (and the words are), the deeds are presented on every Thursday and Monday and Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, grants pardon to every person who does not associate anything with Allah except the person in whose (heart) there is hatred against his brother. It would be said, put both of them off until they are reconciled.

حضرت ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ بیان کرتے ہیں،آپ نے فرمایا:"ہر جمعرات اور پیر کے روز اعمال پیش کیے جاتے ہیں،چنانچہ اللہ عزوجل اس دن پر اس انسان کومعاف کردیتاہے،جو اللہ کے ساتھ کسی کو شریک نہیں ٹھہراتا،سوائے اس انسان کے کہ اس کے اور اس کے بھائی کے درمیان کینہ اور عداوت ہے تو کہا جاتا ہے،ان کے معاملہ کو مؤخر کردوحتیٰ کہ یہ دونوں آپس میں صلح کرلیں،ان دونوں کے معاملہ کو مؤخر کروحتیٰ کہ یہ دونوں صلح کرلیں۔

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu) bayan karte hain, aap ne farmaya: "Har Jumu'ah aur Peer ke roz a'maal pesh kiye jaate hain, chunanche Allah Azwajal is din par is insan ko maaf kar deta hai, jo Allah ke saath kisi ko shareek nahi thehrata, siwaye is insan ke ke is ke aur is ke bhai ke darmiyan keena aur adawat hai toh kaha jata hai, in ke muamla ko muakhkhir kar do hatta ke yeh donon aapas mein sulah kar lein, in ke muamla ko muakhkhir karo hatta ke yeh donon sulah kar lein.

حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عُمَرَ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ مُسْلِمِ بْنِ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ، سَمِعَ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ، رَفَعَهُ مَرَّةً قَالَ ‏ "‏ تُعْرَضُ الأَعْمَالُ فِي كُلِّ يَوْمِ خَمِيسٍ وَاثْنَيْنِ فَيَغْفِرُ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ فِي ذَلِكَ الْيَوْمِ لِكُلِّ امْرِئٍ لاَ يُشْرِكُ بِاللَّهِ شَيْئًا إِلاَّ امْرَأً كَانَتْ بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَ أَخِيهِ شَحْنَاءُ فَيُقَالُ ارْكُوا هَذَيْنِ حَتَّى يَصْطَلِحَا ارْكُوا هَذَيْنِ حَتَّى يَصْطَلِحَا ‏"‏ ‏.‏

Abu Huraira (رضي الله تعالى عنه) reported Allah's Apostle (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) as saying, the deeds of people would be presented every week on two days, Monday and Thursday, and every believing servant would be granted pardon except the one in whose (heart) there is rancor against his brother and it would he said, leave them and put them off until they are turned to reconciliation.

حضرت ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے روایت کرتے ہیں،آپ نے فرمایا:لوگوں کے اعمال ہر ہفتہ میں دودن،پیر اور جمعرات کوپیش کیے جاتےہیں تو ہر مومن بندہ کومعاف کردیاجاتا ہے،سوائے اس بندہ کےکہ اس کے اور اس کے بھائی کے درمیان کینہ ہو،ان کے بارے میں کہاجاتاہے،ان دونوں کو چھوڑے رکھو یا مؤخر رکھوحتیٰ کہ یہ آپس کے کینہ اورباہمی عداوت سے باز آجائیں۔

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu) Rasool Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) se riwayat karte hain, aap ne farmaya: logon ke a'maal har hafta mein do din, Peer aur Jumu'ah ko pesh kiye jaate hain toh har Momin bande ko maaf kar diya jata hai, siwaye is bande ke ke us ke aur us ke bhai ke darmiyan keena ho, un ke bare mein kaha jata hai, in donon ko chore rakho ya muakhkhir rakho hatta ke yeh aapas ke keena aur bahami adawat se baaz aa jayein.

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الطَّاهِرِ، وَعَمْرُو بْنُ سَوَّادٍ، قَالاَ أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَالِكُ بْنُ، أَنَسٍ عَنْ مُسْلِمِ بْنِ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ ‏ "‏ تُعْرَضُ أَعْمَالُ النَّاسِ فِي كُلِّ جُمُعَةٍ مَرَّتَيْنِ يَوْمَ الاِثْنَيْنِ وَيَوْمَ الْخَمِيسِ فَيُغْفَرُ لِكُلِّ عَبْدٍ مُؤْمِنٍ إِلاَّ عَبْدًا بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَ أَخِيهِ شَحْنَاءُ فَيُقَالُ اتْرُكُوا - أَوِ ارْكُوا - هَذَيْنِ حَتَّى يَفِيئَا ‏"‏ ‏.‏
