Chapter: The beginning of the revelation to the messenger of Allah (saws)

باب بَدْءِ الْوَحْىِ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم
Sahih Muslim 161a
Jabir b. 'Abdullah al-Ansari who was one of the Companions of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) reportedThe Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) told about the intermission of revelation and narrated While I was walking I heard a voice from the sky, and raising my head I saw the angel who had come to me in Hira', sitting on a Throne between heaven and earth I was terror-stricken on that account and came back (to my family) and said:Wrap me up, wrap me up! So they wrapped me up, and the Blessed and Most Exalted Allah sent down:" You who are shrouded, arise and deliver warning, your Lord magnify, your clothes cleanse, and defilement shun," and" defilement" means idols; and then the revelation was followed continuously.
حضرت جابر بن عبداللہ انصاری ؓ جو صحابہ کرام ؓ میں سے تھے، بندش ِوحی کا واقعہ بیان کرتے ہوئے بتاتے ہیں کہ آپؐ نے فرمایا: ”دریں اثنا کہ میں چل رہا تھا، میں نے آسمان سے آواز سنی تو میں نے سر اٹھایا، دیکھا کہ وہی فرشتہ جو میرے پاس غارِ حرا میں آیا تھا، وہ آسمان و زمین کے درمیان کرسی پر بیٹھا ہے، تو میں خوف زدہ ہو کر گھبرا کر گھر واپس آگیا، اور میں نے کہا مجھے کپڑا اوڑھاؤ! مجھ پر کپڑا ڈالو، تو گھر والوں نے مجھ پر کپڑا ڈال دیا۔ اس پر اللہ تبارک و تعالیٰ نے یہ آیات اتاریں ”اے کپڑے میں لپٹنے والے اٹھیے! پھر لوگوں کو ڈرائیے اور اپنے پروردگار کی بڑائی بیان کیجیے اور اپنے کپڑے پاک رکھیے اور بتوں سے الگ رہیے۔“ (مدثر:1-5) رجز سے مراد بت ہیں۔ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”پھر وحی مسلسل نازل ہونے لگی۔“
Hazrat Jabir bin Abdullah Ansari (Radiallahu Anhu) jo Sahaba-e-Karam (Radiallahu Anhum) mein se the, bandish-e-wahi ka waqia bayan karte huye batate hain ke Aap (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne farmaya: "Darein asna ke main chal raha tha, main ne aasman se awaz suni to main ne sar uthaya, dekha ke wahi farishta jo mere paas Ghar-e-Hira mein aaya tha, woh aasman-o-zameen ke darmiyan kursi par baitha hai, to main khauf-zada ho kar ghabra kar ghar wapas aagaya, aur main ne kaha mujhe kapda odhao! Mujh par kapda dalo, to ghar walon ne mujh par kapda daal diya. Is par Allah Tabarak-o-Ta'ala ne yeh ayata utarein 'Ae kapde mein lipatne wale uthiye! Phir logon ko drayie aur apne Parwardigar ki badayi bayan kijiye aur apne kapde paak rakhiye aur buton se alag rahiye.' (Mudassir: 1-5). Rijz se murad but hain. Aap (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne farmaya: 'Phir wahi musalsal nazil hone lagi.'"
وَحَدَّثَنِي أَبُو الطَّاهِرِ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي يُونُسُ، قَالَ قَالَ ابْنُ شِهَابٍ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو سَلَمَةَ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، أَنَّ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الأَنْصَارِيَّ، - وَكَانَ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم كَانَ يُحَدِّثُ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم وَهُوَ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ فَتْرَةِ الْوَحْىِ - قَالَ فِي حَدِيثِهِ " فَبَيْنَا أَنَا أَمْشِي سَمِعْتُ صَوْتًا مِنَ السَّمَاءِ فَرَفَعْتُ رَأْسِي فَإِذَا الْمَلَكُ الَّذِي جَاءَنِي بِحِرَاءٍ جَالِسًا عَلَى كُرْسِيٍّ بَيْنَ السَّمَاءِ وَالأَرْضِ " قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم " فَجُئِثْتُ مِنْهُ فَرَقًا فَرَجَعْتُ فَقُلْتُ زَمِّلُونِي زَمِّلُونِي . فَدَثَّرُونِي فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى { يَا أَيُّهَا الْمُدَّثِّرُ * قُمْ فَأَنْذِرْ * وَرَبَّكَ فَكَبِّرْ * وَثِيَابَكَ فَطَهِّرْ * وَالرُّجْزَ فَاهْجُرْ} وَهِيَ الأَوْثَانُ قَالَ ثُمَّ تَتَابَعَ الْوَحْىُ .
