Chapter: The prohibition of giving gifts to agents

باب تَحْرِيمِ هَدَايَا الْعُمَّالِ
Sahih Muslim 1832e
Abu Humaid as-Sa'idi (رضئ للا تعالی عنہ) narrated that the Apostle of Allah (صلى للا عليه و آله وسلم) appointed a man in charge of Sadaqa (authorizing him to receive Zakat from the people on behalf of the State). He came (back to the Prophet (صلى للا عليه و آله وسلم) with many things and started saying, this is for you, and this has been presented to me as a gift. Here follows the tradition that has gone before except that 'Urwa (one of the narrators in the chain) asked Abu Humaid (رضئ للا تعالی عنہ), did you hear it from the Apostle of Allah (صلى للا عليه و آله وسلم)? He replied, my ears heard it from his mouth.
عروہ بن زبیر ابو حمید رضی اللہ تعالی عنہ سے بیان کرتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ایک آدمی کو صدقہ کی وصولی کے لیے مقرر کیا، وہ بہت کچھ مال مویشی لے کر آیا اور کہنے لگا، یہ تمہارا ہے اور یہ مجھے تحفہ دیا گیا ہے، آگے مذکورہ بالا حدیث ہے، عروہ کہتے ہیں، میں نے ابو حمید ساعدی رضی اللہ تعالی عنہ سے پوچھا، کیا آپ نے اسے براہ راست رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے سنا ہے، انہوں نے کہا، آپ کے منہ سے میرے کانوں سے پہنچی۔
Urwah bin Zubair Abu Hamid (Razi Allahu Anhu) se bayan karte hain ke Rasool Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne ek aadmi ko sadqa ki wasooli ke liye muqarrar kiya, woh bahut kuch maal maweshi le kar aaya aur kehne laga, yeh tumhara hai aur yeh mujhe tohfa diya gaya hai, aage mazkoora bala hadith hai, Urwah kehte hain, maine Abu Hamid Sa'idi (Razi Allahu Anhu) se poocha, kya Aap ne use barah e raast Rasool Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) se suna hai, unhon ne kaha, Aap ke munh se mere kaanon tak pahunchi.
وَحَدَّثَنَاهُ إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، أَخْبَرَنَا جَرِيرٌ، عَنِ الشَّيْبَانِيِّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ ذَكْوَانَ، - وَهُوَ أَبُو الزِّنَادِ - عَنْ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم اسْتَعْمَلَ رَجُلاً عَلَى الصَّدَقَةِ فَجَاءَ بِسَوَادٍ كَثِيرٍ فَجَعَلَ يَقُولُ هَذَا لَكُمْ وَهَذَا أُهْدِيَ إِلَىَّ . فَذَكَرَ نَحْوَهُ قَالَ عُرْوَةُ فَقُلْتُ لأَبِي حُمَيْدٍ السَّاعِدِيِّ أَسَمِعْتَهُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَقَالَ مِنْ فِيهِ إِلَى أُذُنِي .
