Sahih Muslim 1929j
Adi bin Hatim (رضي الله ِتعالی عنہ) reported, Allah's Apostle (صلى ہللا عليه ِو آله وسلم) said to me, when you let off your dog, recite the name of Allah, and if it catches (game for you) and you find it alive, then slaughter it; if you find it killed and that (your dog) has eaten nothing out of that, (even then) you may eat it; but if you find along with your dog another dog, and (the game an) dead, then don't eat, for you do not know which of the two has killed it. And if you shoot your arrow, recite the name of Allah, but if it (game) goes out of your sight for a day and you do not find on that but the mark of your arrow, then eat that it you so like, but if you find it drowned in water, then don't eat that.
حضرت عدی بن حاتم رضی اللہ تعالی عنہ بیان کرتے ہیں، رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے مجھے فرمایا: ”جب اپنا کتا چھوڑو تو اللہ کا نام لو، اگر وہ تیرے لیے روک لے اور تم اسے زندہ پا لو تو اسے ذبح کر لو اور اگر اسے اس حال میں پاؤ کہ اس نے اس کو قتل کر ڈالا ہو اور اس سے کھایا نہیں ہے، تو اسے کھا لو اور اگر اپنے کتے کے ساتھ کوئی اور کتا دیکھو اور وہ شکار کو قتل کر چکا ہو، تو نہ کھاؤ، کیونکہ تمہیں معلوم نہیں، ان میں سے کس نے اسے قتل کیا ہے اور اگر اپنا تیر پھینکو، تو اللہ کا نام لو اور اگر شکار تم سے ایک دن غائب رہے اور اس میں اپنے تیر کے سوا کوئی نشان نہ دیکھو، تو اگر چاہو تو کھا لو اور اگر اسے پانی میں ڈوبا ہوا پاؤ تو نہ کھاؤ۔“
Hazrat Adi bin Hatim (Raziallahu Anhu) bayan karte hain, Rasool Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne mujhe farmaya: "Jab apna kutta chhodo to Allah ka naam lo, agar woh tere liye rok le aur tum use zinda pa lo to use zabh kar lo aur agar use is haal mein pao ke us ne usko qatal kar dala ho aur us se khaya nahin hai, to use kha lo aur agar apne kutte ke saath koi aur kutta dekho aur woh shikar ko qatal kar chuka ho, to na khao, kyunke tumhein maloom nahin, un mein se kis ne use qatal kiya hai aur agar apna teer phenko, to Allah ka naam lo aur agar shikar tum se ek din ghaib rahe aur us mein apne teer ke siwa koi nishan na dekho, to agar chaho to kha lo aur agar use pani mein dooba hua pao to na khao."
حَدَّثَنِي الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ شُجَاعٍ السَّكُونِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُسْهِرٍ، عَنْ عَاصِمٍ، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ، عَنْ عَدِيِّ بْنِ حَاتِمٍ، قَالَ قَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم " إِذَا أَرْسَلْتَ كَلْبَكَ فَاذْكُرِ اسْمَ اللَّهِ فَإِنْ أَمْسَكَ عَلَيْكَ فَأَدْرَكْتَهُ حَيًّا فَاذْبَحْهُ وَإِنْ أَدْرَكْتَهُ قَدْ قَتَلَ وَلَمْ يَأْكُلْ مِنْهُ فَكُلْهُ وَإِنْ وَجَدْتَ مَعَ كَلْبِكَ كَلْبًا غَيْرَهُ وَقَدْ قَتَلَ فَلاَ تَأْكُلْ فَإِنَّكَ لاَ تَدْرِي أَيُّهُمَا قَتَلَهُ وَإِنْ رَمَيْتَ سَهْمَكَ فَاذْكُرِ اسْمَ اللَّهِ فَإِنْ غَابَ عَنْكَ يَوْمًا فَلَمْ تَجِدْ فِيهِ إِلاَّ أَثَرَ سَهْمِكَ فَكُلْ إِنْ شِئْتَ وَإِنْ وَجَدْتَهُ غَرِيقًا فِي الْمَاءِ فَلاَ تَأْكُلْ " .
