Chapter: The prohibition of eating sacrificial meat for more than three days, which applied at the beginning of Islam but was then abrogated, and now it is permissible to eat it as long as one wants.

Sahih Muslim 1971
Abdullah bin Waqid (رضي الله تعالى عنه) narrated that Allah's Apostle (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) forbade (people) to cat the meat of sacrificed animals beyond three days. Abdullah bin Abu Bakr said, I made a mention of that to 'Amra, whereupon she said, he has told the truth, for I heard Ummul Momineen A'isha (رضي الله تعالى عنها) say, the poor among the people of the desert come (to the towns) on the occasion of Id al-Adha during the lifetime of Allah's Apostle ( صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم). Upon this Allah's Apostle (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) said, retain with you (the meat) sufficing for three (days), and whatever is left out of that give in charity. After this, they (the Muslims) said, Allah's Apostle (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم), the people make waterskins with the (hides) of their sacrificed animals and they melt fat out of them. Thereupon he said. What the then? They said, you forbade (us) to eat the meat of sacrificial animals beyond three (days), whereupon he said, I forbade you for those (poor persons) who flocked (to the towns on this occasion for getting meat) but now when (this situation has improved) you may eat, preserve and give in charity.
عبداللہ بن واقد نے بتایا، رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے قربانیوں کا گوشت تین دن کے بعد کھانے سے منع فرمایا، (ابن واقد کے شاگرد) عبداللہ بن ابی بکر کہتے ہیں، میں نے اس حدیث کا تذکرہ حضرت عمرہ سے کیا، تو اس نے کہا، اس نے سچ کہا، میں نے حضرت عائشہ رضی اللہ تعالی عنہ کو یہ بیان کرتے سنا، عید الاضحیٰ کے دن، رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے دور میں کچھ بادیہ نشین گھرانے آئے، تو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”تین دن کے لیے ذخیرہ کر لو اور باقی صدقہ کر دو“ جب اس کے بعد عید آئی، صحابہ کرام نے عرض کی، اے اللہ کے رسول! لوگ اپنی قربانیوں سے مشکیزے بناتے ہیں اور ان سے چربی پگھلاتے ہیں، تو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”پھر کیا ہوا؟“ انہوں نے عرض کیا، آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے قربانیوں کا گوشت تین دن کے بعد کھانے سے منع کر دیا ہے، آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”میں نے تو بس آنے والے جماعت کی آمد کی خاطر منع کیا تھا، کھاؤ، ذخیرہ کرو اور صدقہ بھی کرو۔“
Abdullah bin Waqid ne bataya, Rasool Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne qurbaniyon ka gosht teen din ke baad khane se mana farmaya, (Ibn Waqid ke shagird) Abdullah bin Abi Bakr kehte hain, main ne is Hadees ka tazkirah Hazrat Amrah se kiya, to us ne kaha, us ne sach kaha, main ne Hazrat Aishah (Raziallahu Anha) ko yeh bayan karte suna, Eid ul-Azha ke din, Rasool Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ke daur mein kuch badiyah nasheen gharane aaye, to Rasool Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne farmaya: "Teen din ke liye zakhirah kar lo aur baqi sadaqah kar do" Jab uske baad Eid aayi, Sahaba Kiraam ne arz ki, Aye Allah ke Rasool! Log apni qurbaniyon se mashkeeze banate hain aur un se charbi pighlate hain, to Rasool Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne farmaya: "Phir kya hua?" Unhon ne arz kiya, Aap (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne qurbaniyon ka gosht teen din ke baad khane se mana kar diya hai, Aap (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne farmaya: "Main ne to bas aane wale jama'at ki aamad ki khatir mana kiya tha, khao, zakhirah karo aur sadaqah bhi karo."
حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْحَنْظَلِيُّ، أَخْبَرَنَا رَوْحٌ، حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكٌ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ، أَبِي بَكْرٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ وَاقِدٍ، قَالَ نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم عَنْ أَكْلِ لُحُومِ الضَّحَايَا بَعْدَ ثَلاَثٍ . قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لِعَمْرَةَ فَقَالَتْ صَدَقَ سَمِعْتُ عَائِشَةَ تَقُولُ دَفَّ أَهْلُ أَبْيَاتٍ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْبَادِيَةِ حِضْرَةَ الأَضْحَى زَمَنَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم " ادَّخِرُوا ثَلاَثًا ثُمَّ تَصَدَّقُوا بِمَا بَقِيَ " . فَلَمَّا كَانَ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ النَّاسَ يَتَّخِذُونَ الأَسْقِيَةَ مِنْ ضَحَايَاهُمْ وَيَحْمِلُونَ مِنْهَا الْوَدَكَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم " وَمَا ذَاكَ " . قَالُوا نَهَيْتَ أَنْ تُؤْكَلَ لُحُومُ الضَّحَايَا بَعْدَ ثَلاَثٍ . فَقَالَ " إِنَّمَا نَهَيْتُكُمْ مِنْ أَجْلِ الدَّافَّةِ الَّتِي دَفَّتْ فَكُلُوا وَادَّخِرُوا وَتَصَدَّقُوا " .
