Chapter: The Reward Of The Believer For Whatever Befalls Him Of Sickness, Grief And The Like, Even A Thorn That Pricks Him

باب ثَوَابِ الْمُؤْمِنِ فِيمَا يُصِيبُهُ مِنْ مَرَضٍ أَوْ حُزْنٍ أَوْ نَحْوِ ذَلِكَ حَتَّى الشَّوْكَةِ يُش
Sahih Muslim 2571a
Abdullah (رضئ هللا تعالی عنہ) reported, I visited Allah's Apostle (صلى هللا عليه و آله وسلم) as he was running a high temperature. I touched his body with my hand and said to him, Allah's Apostle (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم), you are running a high temperature, whereupon Allah's Apostle (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) said, yes, it is so. I comparatively have a more severe fever than any one of you. I said, is it because there is a double reward in store for you? Thereupon Allah's Apostle (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) said, yes, it is so. And Allah's Apostle (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) again said, when a Muslim falls ill, his compensation is that his minor sins are obliterated just as leaves fall (in autumn). In the Hadith transmitted on the authority of Zubair there is (no mention of these words), ‘I touched his body with my hands.’
حضرت عبداللہ بیان کرتےہیں،میں رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی خدمت میں حاضر ہوا،جبکہ آپ کو بخار تھا،چنانچہ میں نے آپ کو اپنا ہاتھ لگا کردیکھا اورعرض کیا:اےاللہ کے رسول( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم )!آپ کو تو بہت شدید بخار ہے تو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا:ہاں،مجھے تم میں سے دو آدمیوں کے برابر بخار ہوتا ہے،سو میں نےکہا،یہ اس لیے ہے کہ آپ کو دوگنا اجر ملتا ہے تو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا:ہاں۔پھر رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا:"جس مسلمان کو بھی کوئی تکلیف پہنچتی ہے،بیماری ہو یاکوئی مصیبت تو اللہ اس کے سبب اس کی بُرائیاں گرادیتاہے،جس طرح (سوکھا) درخت اپنے پتے جھاڑتا ہے۔"زہیر کی حدیث میں،اپنےہاتھ سے چھونے کا ذکر نہیں ہے۔
Hazrat Abdullah bayan karte hain, mein Rasool Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ki khidmat mein hazir hua, jabke aap ko bukhaar tha, chunanche mein ne aap ko apna haath laga kar dekha aur arz kiya: ae Allah ke Rasool (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam)! aap ko toh bahut shadeed bukhaar hai toh Rasool Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne farmaya: haan, mujhe tum mein se do aadmiyon ke barabar bukhaar hota hai, so mein ne kaha, yeh is liye hai ke aap ko dugna ajr milta hai toh Rasool Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne farmaya: haan. Phir Rasool Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne farmaya: "Jis Musalman ko bhi koi takleef puhanchti hai, bimari ho ya koi musibat toh Allah us ke sabab is ki buraiyan gira deta hai, jis tarah (sookha) darakht apne patte jhaarta hai." Zuhair ki hadees mein, apne haath se choone ka zikr nahi hai.
حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، وَزُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ، وَإِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، قَالَ إِسْحَاقُ أَخْبَرَنَا وَقَالَ الآخَرَانِ، حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ التَّيْمِيِّ، عَنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ سُوَيْدٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، قَالَ دَخَلْتُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم وَهُوَ يُوعَكُ فَمَسِسْتُهُ بِيَدِي فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّكَ لَتُوعَكُ وَعْكًا شَدِيدًا . فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم " أَجَلْ إِنِّي أُوعَكُ كَمَا يُوعَكُ رَجُلاَنِ مِنْكُمْ " . قَالَ فَقُلْتُ ذَلِكَ أَنَّ لَكَ أَجْرَيْنِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم " أَجَلْ " . ثُمَّ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم " مَا مِنْ مُسْلِمٍ يُصِيبُهُ أَذًى مِنْ مَرَضٍ فَمَا سِوَاهُ إِلاَّ حَطَّ اللَّهُ بِهِ سَيِّئَاتِهِ كَمَا تَحُطُّ الشَّجَرَةُ وَرَقَهَا " . وَلَيْسَ فِي حَدِيثِ زُهَيْرٍ فَمَسِسْتُهُ بِيَدِي .
