Chapter: Concession allowing one to not attend the congregation if there is an excuse

باب الرُّخْصَةِ فِي التَّخَلُّفِ عَنِ الْجَمَاعَةِ، بِعُذْرٍ
Sahih Muslim 33e
Mahmud bin Rabi' (رضي الله تعالى عنه) narrated, ‘I remember it well the disgorge of the Apostle of Allah ( صلى ہللاعليه و آله وسلم) that he did (with water) from a bucket of our house. Mahmud ( رضئہللا تعالی عنہ) said, 'Itban bin Malik (رضي الله تعالى عنه) narrated it to me that he had said, Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم), I have lost my eyesight, and the rest of the Hadith is the same up to these words, ‘he led us in two rak'a of prayer and we requested the Apostle of Allah ( صلى ہللا عليهو آله وسلم) for serving him the pudding that we had prepared for him,’ and no mention has been made of what follows next from the addition made by Yunus and Ma'mar.
حضرت محمود بن ربیع رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ بیان کرتے ہیں کہ مجھے اس کلی کی سمجھ ہے جو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ہمارے گھر میں ایک ڈول سے (پانی لے کر) کی تھی، محمود کہتے ہیں مجھے عتبان بن مالک رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے بتایا کہ میں نے عرض کیا: اے اللہ کے رسول صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم! میری نظر میں خرابی پیدا ہو گئی ہے اور دو رکعات نماز پڑھانے تک واقعہ سنایا اور یہ کہ ہم نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے لیے جو کھانا تیار کیا تھا، اس کے لیے آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو روک لیا، اس کے بعد یونس اور معمر نے جو اضافہ کیا، وہ بیان نہیں کیا۔
Hazrat Mahmood bin Rabi (Radiyallahu Anhu) bayan karte hain ke mujhe is kulli ki samajh hai jo Rasool Allah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) ne hamare ghar mein ek dhol se (pani le kar) ki thi, Mahmood kehte hain mujhe Itban bin Malik (Radiyallahu Anhu) ne bataya ke maine arz kiya: Ae Allah ke Rasool (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam)! Meri nazar mein kharabi paida ho gayi hai aur do rakat namaz parhane tak waqea sunaya aur yeh ke humne Rasool Allah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) ke liye jo khana tayyar kiya tha, uske liye Aap (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) ko rok liya, iske baad Younus aur Moammar ne jo izafa kiya, woh bayan nahi kiya.
وَحَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، أَخْبَرَنَا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ، عَنِ الأَوْزَاعِيِّ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي الزُّهْرِيُّ، عَنْ مَحْمُودِ بْنِ الرَّبِيعِ، قَالَ إِنِّي لأَعْقِلُ مَجَّةً مَجَّهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم مِنْ دَلْوٍ فِي دَارِنَا . قَالَ مَحْمُودٌ فَحَدَّثَنِي عِتْبَانُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ قَالَ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ بَصَرِي قَدْ سَاءَ . وَسَاقَ الْحَدِيثَ إِلَى قَوْلِهِ فَصَلَّى بِنَا رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَحَبَسْنَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم عَلَى جَشِيشَةٍ صَنَعْنَاهَا لَهُ . وَلَمْ يَذْكُرْ مَا بَعْدَهُ مِنْ زِيَادَةِ يُونُسَ وَمَعْمَرٍ .
