The virtues of Hazrat Hudhaifah bin Yaman (RA)
فضائل حضرت حذيفة بن يمان رضي الله عنه، یہ حذيفة بن حسیل ہیں، رسول اللہ ﷺ کے صحابی ہیں

Muhammad bin Jarir says: This stance is incorrect. I think that the person who holds this view either does not know about the time of the martyrdom of Usman (may Allah be pleased with him) or he does not know how to calculate correctly. The reason for this is that there is no disagreement among the historians that the martyrdom of Usman (may Allah be pleased with him) took place in the month of Dhul-Hijjah, 35 AH. A group among them says that the martyrdom of Usman (may Allah be pleased with him) took place on the 18th of Dhul-Hijjah. (Whatever the date may be) his martyrdom took place in Dhul-Hijjah and Hudhaifa (may Allah be pleased with him) also lived for forty days after the martyrdom of Usman (may Allah be pleased with him), then it is inevitable that the year of his martyrdom becomes 36 AH.
محمد بن جریر کہتے ہیں : یہ موقف غلط ہے ۔ میں اس موقف رکھنے والے کے بارے میں سمجھتا ہوں کہ یا تو اس کو حضرت عثمان رضی اللہ عنہ کی شہادت کے وقت کا علم نہیں ہے یا پھر اس کو صحیح حساب نہیں کرنا آتا ۔ اس کی وجہ یہ ہے کہ سیرت نگاروں کا اس بارے میں کوئی اختلاف نہیں ہے کہ حضرت عثمان رضی اللہ عنہ کی شہادت سن 35 ہجری کے ماہ ذوالحجہ میں ہوئی تھی ، ان میں سے ایک جماعت کا کہنا ہے کہ حضرت عثمان رضی اللہ عنہ کی شہادت 18 ذوالحجہ کو ہوئی ۔ ( تاریخ کوئی بھی ہو بہرحال جب ) ان کی شہادت ذوالحجہ میں ہوئی ہے اور حضرت عثمان رضی اللہ عنہ کی شہادت کے بعد چالیس دن تک حضرت حذیفہ رضی اللہ عنہ زندہ بھی رہے ہیں تو لازمی بات ہے کہ ان کی شہادت کا سال 36 ہجری بنتا ہے ۔
Muhammad bin Jareer kahte hain : yeh mauqif ghalat hai . main is mauqif rakhne wale ke bare mein samajhta hoon ke ya to is ko Hazrat Usman Radi Allah Anhu ki shahadat ke waqt ka ilm nahin hai ya phir is ko sahi hisab nahin karna aata . is ki wajah yeh hai ke seerat nigaro ka is bare mein koi ikhtilaf nahin hai ke Hazrat Usman Radi Allah Anhu ki shahadat san 35 Hijri ke mah Zilhajj mein hui thi , un mein se ek jamaat ka kahna hai ke Hazrat Usman Radi Allah Anhu ki shahadat 18 Zilhajj ko hui . ( tareekh koi bhi ho ba har hal jab ) un ki shahadat Zilhajj mein hui hai aur Hazrat Usman Radi Allah Anhu ki shahadat ke baad chalis din tak Hazrat Huzayfah Radi Allah Anhu zinda bhi rahe hain to lazmi baat hai ke un ki shahadat ka saal 36 Hijri banta hai ..
أَخْبَرَنِي مَخْلَدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ الْبَاقَرْحِيُّ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَرِيرٍ، قَالَ: " هَذَا الْقَوْلَ خَطَأٌ وَأَظُنُّ لِصَاحِبِهِ إِمَّا أَنْ يَكُونَ لَمْ يَعْرِفِ الْوَقْتَ الَّذِي قُتِلَ فِيهِ عُثْمَانُ، وَإِمَّا أَنْ يَكُونَ لَمْ يُحْسِنْ أَنْ يَحْسِبَ، وَذَلِكَ أَنَّهُ لَا خِلَافَ بَيْنَ أَهْلِ السِّيَرِ كُلِّهِمْ أَنَّ عُثْمَانَ قُتِلَ فِي ذِي الْحِجَّةِ مِنْ سَنَةِ خَمْسٍ وَثَلَاثِينَ مِنَ الْهِجْرَةِ، وَقَالَتْ جَمَاعَةٌ مِنْهُمْ: قُتِلَ لِاثْنَتَيْ عَشْرَةَ لَيْلَةً بَقِيَتْ مِنْهُ، فَإِذَا كَانَ مَقْتَلُ عُثْمَانَ فِي ذِي الْحِجَّةِ وَعَاشَ حُذَيْفَةُ بَعْدَهُ أَرْبَعِينَ لَيْلَةً، فَذَلِكَ فِي السَّنَةِ الَّتِي بَعْدَهَا "
