Urwah bin Zubair (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to supplicate for forgiveness three times for those in the first row and once for those in the second row.
" حضرت عرباض بن ساریہ رضی اللہ عنہ فرماتے ہیں : رسول اللہ ﷺ پہلی صف والوں کے لیے تین مرتبہ اور دوسری صف والوں کے لیے ایک مرتبہ دعائے مغفرت کیا کرتے تھے ۔

حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ نَصْرٍ الْخُلْدِيُّ، ثنا الْحَارِثُ بْنُ أَبِي أُسَامَةَ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ بَكْرٍ السَّهْمِيُّ، ثنا هِشَامٌ الدَّسْتُوَائِيُّ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ، عَنْ خَالِدِ بْنِ مَعْدَانَ، عَنِ الْعِرْبَاضِ بْنِ سَارِيَةَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ «يَسْتَغْفِرُ لِلصَّفِّ الْمُقَدَّمِ ثَلَاثًا وَلِلثَّانِي مَرَّةً» . «هَذَا حَدِيثٌ صَحِيحُ الْإِسْنَادِ عَلَى الْوُجُوهِ كُلِّهَا إِلَّا أَنَّ الشَّيْخَيْنِ لَمْ يُخَرِّجَاهُ لِعِلَّةِ الرِّوَايَةِ، عَنِ الْعِرْبَاضِ، وَهُوَ مِمَّا قَدَّمْتُ فِيهِ الْقَوْلَ» [التعليق - من تلخيص الذهبي] 788 - على شرطهما
