Abu Ahmad ibn Adi al-Jurjani: I did not see the speakers in the men say anything about him, and I do not know how they neglected him, because most of what he narrates is rejected, and I mentioned him because of the rejected narrations and texts that he narrates, and perhaps that is because of his father, because his father has been spoken of by those who speak about the weak narrators before, because I did not see Ja'far narrating from anyone other than his father.
Abu al-Faraj ibn al-Jawzi: He mentioned a hadith for him in the topics and accused him of fabricating it.
Abu Ja'far al-'Uqayli: His memorization was very confused, he narrated fabrications, and he inclined towards the belief of Qadr.
Abu Hatim al-Razi: Shaykh
Abu Hatim ibn Hibban al-Busti: His hadith is considered when he narrates from other than his father.
al-Busayri: There is a consensus on his weakness, and I have not seen anyone who considered him trustworthy.
Zakariya ibn Yahya al-Saji: He narrated fabrications and inclined towards the belief of Qadr.
