Abu Ahmad bin Adi al-Jarjani: He has unique and strange narrations, and I hope his hadith will be tolerated.
Abu al-Faraj ibn al-Jawzi: He was a caller to Murji'ism, and the hadith scholars agreed on weakening his narrations.
Abu Bakr al-Bayhaqi: He is not strong.
Abu Hatim ibn Habban al-Busti: He is a denier of hadith, he would twist the narrations, and he was a Murji'ite, strong in his Murji'ism, and a caller to it.
Abu Dawud al-Sijistani: He is not reliable. He was a Murji'ite. Ahmad did not write from him and said, 'I used to see him in al-Qati'ah.'
Abu Zur'a al-Razi: His hadith should not be written. He was a Murji'ite and he was not... and he gestured with his hand meaning he is not truthful.
Abu Ya'la al-Khalili: They all agreed on his weakness.
Ahmad ibn Hanbal: Salam bin Salim al-Balkhi is not that great in hadith and is weak.
Ahmad ibn Siyar al-Marwazi: He was an ascetic and a leader in Murji'ism, a caller to it. He used to narrate hadiths that have no basis or connection to the topic.
Ahmad ibn Shu'ayb al-Nasa'i: Weak.
Ahmad ibn Salih al-Jili: He is fine. He was seen to hold Murji'ite beliefs.
Aswad ibn Salim al-'Abid: He was asked about Salam, so he said, 'Do not mention him to me.'
Ibrahim ibn Ya'qub al-Jawzajani: Not trustworthy.
Ibn Abi Hatim al-Razi: His hadith is weak.
al-Khatib al-Baghdadi: Salam is mentioned with worship and asceticism. He was rough in his manner and used to incline towards Murji'ism.
Hafs ibn Salam al-Samarqandi: Salam bin Salim is one of the eyes of Allah on earth, and Salam bin Salim in our time is like Umar ibn al-Khattab in his time.
Hanbal ibn Ishaq al-Shaybani: He was a righteous servant. I did not write anything from him. He did not memorize hadith well and used to make mistakes.
Abd al-Rahman ibn Yusuf ibn Kharash: He is not reliable.
Ali ibn al-Madini: He was a Murji'ite and his hadith was weak.
Muhammad ibn Ahmad al-Hakimi: It was in the book of Ahmad ibn Abi 'Ali from his like, Ibn al-Rammah, that Salam bin Salim was a narrator of hadiths, seemingly humble, harsh on himself in worship, wearing thin garments and riding donkeys. He had a gathering for hadith and his admonition was endless.
Muhammad ibn Sa'd, the scribe of al-Waqidi: A Murji'ite, weak in hadith.
Muhammad ibn 'Abdullah al-Makhrami: Beware of his life, lest it sting you. And once: He mentioned a hadith to him and said, 'This is from the scorpions of Salam.' And once: He declared him a liar.
Yahya ibn Ma'in: From the narration of Mu'awiyah, he said: 'Weak.' And from the narration of al-'Abbas, he said: 'He is not reliable.' And from the narration of Ahmad ibn Zuhayr, he said: 'His hadith is not reliable.'
