Abu Hatim ibn Hibban al-Busti: He was pious, and some of his narrations from his father were through intermediaries, then he became very forgetful, so he mentioned him among the weak narrators, and he narrated from al-Bukhari that he said: We abandoned him
Abu Zur'a al-Razi: His narrations are acceptable
Ahmad ibn Hanbal: Abu al-Yaman testified for him and said: He is acceptable to me
Ibn Hajar al-'Asqalani: Trustworthy, and once: He was dropped from Ibn Hibban's book of trustworthy narrators because of what he narrated from al-Bukhari that he said: We abandoned him. This arose from an omission, for his saying is: We abandoned him alive in the year 212. So the word 'alive' was dropped, which changed the meaning
