Abu Ahmad ibn Adi al-Jurjani: There is nothing wrong with him or his narrations. If they heard from him earlier, and the earlier hearing from him was heard by Ibn Abi Dhi'b, Ibn Juraij, Ziyad ibn Sa'd, and others. As for those who heard from him later, he had become confused and Malik, al-Thawri and others met him after the confusion. The hadith of Salih, which he narrated before the confusion, I do not know of any hadith from him after that.

Sufyan ibn 'Uyaynah: I met him when he had changed, I would say to him, 'Did you hear from Ibn 'Abbas? Did you hear from Abu Hurayrah? Did you hear from so-and-so?' He would not answer me, so an old man next to him said, 'The Sheikh is old.'
Shu'bah ibn al-Hajjaj: Do not narrate from him and he forbade it
