Ahmad ibn Salih Al-Jilli: Basri, Trustworthy, and he is more reputable than Abu Hurairah
Abdur Rahman ibn Mahdi: More firm [in memory] than Abu Hurairah, and once he said: The most firm of Shaykhs in Basra

Yahya ibn Sa'eed Al-Qattan: It is as if he weakened him. Ibn Abi Hatim said: The statement of Yahya indicates the rejection of the statement of Abdur Rahman that he is the most firm of Shaykhs in Basra, not that he weakened him
