Abu Hatim ibn Hibban al-Busti: He used to support the Sunnah and was very pious, devout, and disciplined.
Abu Zar'ah al-Razi: He was asked about Ibn Idris, Yunus ibn Bukayr, Abidah ibn Sulayman, and Salamah ibn al-Fadl, 'Which of them is most beloved to you?' He said, 'Ibn Idris is the most beloved of them to us.'

Abd al-Rahman ibn Yusuf ibn Khurrash: Trustworthy.
Ali ibn al-Madini: One of the trustworthy. And once: There was no one in Kufa like Ibn Abi Zayd, Ibn Idris, and Muhammad ibn Ubayd in the Sunnah. And once: Abdullah ibn Idris is above his father in hadith. And once: Upright.
Muhammad ibn Sa'd, the scribe of al-Waqidi: Trustworthy, reliable, abundant in hadith, a source of evidence.
Muhammad ibn Abd Allah ibn Numayr: Devout. And Hafs ibn Ghiyath was more knowledgeable in hadith than Ibn Idris, and Ibn Abi Zayd was more abundant in hadith and in piety than Ibn Idris.
Makhlad ibn Malik al-Jammal: Ibn Idris was one who memorized what he heard.
